Thanks for nothing

Well, see if I ever go to Spash Magoon now…

Thanks, Nick Scott, for totally ruining the convention center plans on the bayfront. It’s not like you don’t have enough money to just start moving forward, and besides, you’d make that up when the hotel and center opened, and people would come to our fair city.

I think its funny the City is thinking of “eminent domaining” his land on the bayfront.

Perhaps eminent domain would fix his butt.

Nick Scott has never done anything that wasn’t for or about Nick Scott.

Just like that Splash Lagoon place on upper peach street. I had to laugh my ass off at all the people who looked at this as an example of Nick Scott helping Erie in terms of economic development.

What a bunch of bullshit ! All Splash Lagoon was about was a way for Nick to feed business into his million hotels and restaurants that he owns in the upper peach street area.

The hotel business has been in a slump for several years now, inclusing Scott’s places. So Splash Lagoon was Nick’s way of helping the places he already has.

As for the Convention Center fiasco, Scott got such a sweetheart deal but it still wasn’t enough. He wouldn’t even pay the prevailing wage for laborers so the city had to come up with over a million dollars or else Scott was going to take his toys and go home.

Then they give him exclusive catering rights ? And now, this bozo wanted to be able to walk away from the project after it was started.

I don’t believe in the convention center to begin with. It’s a bad idea and it speaks volumnes about Erie’s nutty priorities. But if it’s going to be built, the city should forget about depending on Nick Scott.

He’s not doing it because he believes in it. He’s there to exploit it and line his pockets.

One more thing. Don’t expect the local media to ever seriously criticize Nick Scott.

Not when they are also receiving so many advertising dollars for Scotts umpteen hotels, restaurants, and Splash Lagoon.

If this had been an out-of-town businessman that wasn’t well known, the local press would have been heaping criticism all over him.

But since it’s Nick Scott, the gloves stay off.

You are all morons, this is the American Way, and what Nick has done is what any prudent business person would do. I think its outrageous to think that he would build Splash to fill OTHER hotels – dont you? Did Disney build all they have today to help anyone but Disney? Take your liberal LIFE IS FREE approach to business somewhere else. Its people like you that have made Erie the depressed economy it is today, unlike enterprising people such as Nick Scott.

Since when is making money a bad thing? You people sound a little jealous to me! Nick Scott is a VERY savy business man and I wish him all the luck in the world. It would serve Erie right if he decided to never ever invest in another project within the city limits. We would certainly welcome his $$ down in Meadville!
