Matthew Perez-Jefferson entered a plea of guilty to third degree murder in the Noverber shooting of Paul Martinson outside the Antigua Blue Tavern. The sentencing is scheduled for May. He faces 5-40 years.
The Erie Redevelopment Authority held a groundbreaking yesterday on a $5 million housing project in the “Hood”, the area of East 21st and East 26th Streets between French and Parade Streets. Almost 4 dozen homes will be built and almost 100 homes will be remodeled.
Gannon University will award some 528 degrees at its Spring Commencement exercises, to be held Saturday, May 6 at Tullio Arena. The ceremony will begin at 2 pm. The graduates will include 22 students receiving associate’s degrees, 333 students receiving bachelor’s degrees, 155 students receiving master’s degrees, and 17 students receiving doctoral degrees. One student will graduate with a post master’s certificate.
The Erie SeaWolves needed 15 innings to pull a win from the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday night at Prince George’s Stadium, 5-3. The Baysox finish their three game series with the SeaWolves today at 11:05 am. LHP Craig Anderson will face Jeremy Johnson in the contest.

Critically acclaimed historian Thomas Fleming, author of a dozen books on the American Revolution and a distinguished historical novelist, will speak on “Washington’s Secret War” Wednesday, April 26, at 7 pm in Walker Recital Hall at Mercyhurst College. The lecture is free and open to the public.
