Erie PA News and Events for Thursday December 7, 2006

He comes the snow. We’re supposed to get anywhere from 4 to 24 inches in the next two days. Text book case of Lake Effect Snow with cold air rushing over the 40 degree waters of Lake Erie and dumping the moisture on the southern shore area. See Brian’s site at WX-MAN.com for the weather info.
And as for road conditions, the phone numbers are posted on the top right if you can’t look out your window and see how bad the conditions are in front of your house.

There was a chemical spill at Erie Plating, 656 West 12th St, forcing the evacuation of over 100 workers. It was pretty well contained and nobody required medical attention. Erie City Council voted unanimously on a second reading to adopt a curfew on kids under 18. The new law takes effect Jan 6. Kids will have to be home 10 pm to 6 am Sunday through Thursday and midnight to 6 am Friday and Saturday. During school breaks kids will have to be home midnight to 6 am. Exceptions are made for kids that work, attend night classes, sporting or other community events. The first time, they get a warning. Then the fines begin. Businesses that let kids hang out can be fined $50 for a first offense and up to $300 and/or 90 days in jail for subsequent offenses. I hate the fact of government wanting to control lives, but the curfew is necessary because too few parents are taking responsibility for their kids.
