Special Erie County Envoy

A Special Envoy is a diplomat dispatched by the authority of a third party to travel to areas in conflict to help reduce tensions and resolve disputes. In Erie, an Envoy isn’t a political appointment, it’s a political perk.
Erie County Executive Mark DiVecchio got himself a 2008 GMC Envoy 4×4 SUV. Erie County taxpayers are footing the bill. The 24 month lease is $650.99 per month – plus insurance, gas, plates, etc. The five-seat Envoy has standard side curtain airbags and XM Satellite Radio. OnStar is included. Tow capacity is 6,300 lbs which might be enough to haul around his ego. EPA Fuel Economy: City: 13-14, Highway: 19-20.
Thanks to taxpayer watchdog Dan Galena for passing along the info. He received the lease info from the Erie County Finance Office.

Hey, we can only hope he is able to get his 4X4 out of his driveway, now. Seems like a lot of car with poor mileage to get to the courthouse!!!

Only the best for Erie’s County Executive! Kind of reminds me of a similar extravagant purchase for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s wife (see http://www.speakreality.com/printthread.php?t=1603 ). Of course, Detroit’s mayor makes DiVecchio look like an amateur.

Nothing like a politician with a sense of entitlement.

  3. Heavy D says:

geez, as a liberal democrat I would have figured he’d get a hybrid. Nope! He goes for the gas guzzling SUV, but expects the rest of us to do ‘our part’. Typical liberal hypocrite. I bet he believes in global warming too!
