Is WSEE in HD? No one can seem to see it and WSEE pulled any HD info from their web site. Don’t tease us. We want our football in HD!

Solar Revolution Erie. Anyone else see the billboards…? One up heading north on 99 between Edinboro and Erie.

Tried hitting the site but it’s “coming soon”. Can’t believe they’d throw up billboards before having the site done.

Anyways, tried googling about them and came up with this site: http://www.greenrightnow.com/arklatexhomepage/video/youreriecom-erie-pa/

Doesn’t it look exactly like YourErie.com? Must be using the same application/web site template. Funny.

Anyone know anything about solar revolution?

Changing the subject somewhat, I was down at Presque Isle today and noticed a load of “webs” in the trees. A closer inspection showed they are a sort of community cocoon for caterpillars. A quick internet search suggests these are Uglynest Caterpillars. Does anyone know any different? Are these an annual occurrence at Presque Isle? (The kids were fascinated, having seen nothing like it before)

why doesn’t DirecTV offer local channels in Erie?

“The U.S. Census Bureau has release new estimates as to the poverty rate for a number of Pennsylvania cities. Out of the largest cities in the state, Erie has the second highest poverty rate of almost 25% which is determined by income (roughly $23,000 annually) and number of family members in a household.”

These are the people you are most likely to see at the casino. You rarely see rich people in a casino plying the slots. Same thing with the lottery – the ones with the least are the most desperate to win.

I used to live in Erie. We called them “tent caterpillars” and yes they are almost a yearly occurrence. I can remember them many years ago when I was a kid. I am not sure what type of butterfly or moth they become. They are very destructive to the trees, but everything comes back the following year.

  8. Jeremy says:

Anyone know who won the Apple 3G from the Blood Bank? Also who’s Blog recieved a gift basket? Just curious.

  9. bojosmom says:

Thanks to Erieblogs for reminding and encouraging everyone to donate blood if they’re capable.
About the Greg Finney guilty plea and the other house flipping “investors”~ glad to see that this kind of conduct does not go unpunished. On a similar topic, does anyone know if there is going to be a new real estate tax appraisal done county wide again soon??? I seem to remember that they had planned on doing them every three to five years when they finished the last one ! I’m sure they may be dragging their feet as the housing market has taken such a hit with falling prices due to the mortgage crisis. Hopefully unscrupulous speculators will not be taking advantage of any more unprepared buyers out there. Do your homework and seek help if you are thinking of buying a home or investment property. Insist upon inspections and full dislosure statements.
    thanks again.
Some people are starting their Labor Day holiday as early as tomorrow so to all of them and those who just have a three day weekend- enjoy the fall holiday.

We do know who won and we’re just wrapping up notifying everyone, especially the iPhone winner, to make sure everythings cool. Give us a day or so.

  11. Steve says:

inked….Thanks for the comments. I understand the trees bounce back from the damage well because the damage is done late in the their growing cycle so does not have any real impact on the trees.

  12. Steve says:

bojosmom…..Full disclosure statements are a rarity. We have seen a number of them in the last few weeks and our method now is to initially ignore what is written and focus on the questions that haven’t been answered. Once we have answers to those gaps we decide whether to bother reading the rest of it – and on more than one occasion we haven’t bothered but have simply discarded that house. “Lying by omission” seems to be deemed acceptable by some sellers. Caveat emptor.

  13. inked says:

Yes, I am 43 and lived in Erie until just two years ago, and remember the caterpillars almost every year. I can remember them well back into the 70′s. They are not just confined to the peninsula either if I remember correctly, just more yummy trees there in one place.
