The Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority has decided what municipal projects will receive gaming revenue collected in 2007. Summit Township hits the jackpot – they will get over $2 million for water improvements, $500k for sewer improvements, a new firetruck and a pumping station. The big news of yesterday was the passing of John Kanzius. Kanzius, 64, worked at WJET for many years, including serving as the station’s general manager. For the last several years, he had been developing a technology for killing cancer cells using radio waves. He began developing this technology after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. John Kanzius, 64, passed away today in Florida. The former TV station owner and engineer spent the last several years developing technology that would kill cancer cells using radio waves. You can learn more about his research at his foundation’s website. We’ll have more on this in tomorrow morning’s news post.
