We hope you enjoyed the beautiful temperatures this weekend. We spent some time outside, and were excited to see the very large icicles on our house finally start to melt. We’re ready for spring, and summer – who wants to take us on a boat?.
Unfortunately, the warm temps messed with a lot of outdoor activities planned for the region, including the Pucks at Presque Isle event. The ice was a little too soft to skate on, so players played three on three on foot instead. That didn’t stop a ton of people from hitting up Presque Isle – check out some great photos from Jackie here.
Despite warm temperatures, it also wasn’t a good weekend for the Warner Theatre. Stone, brick and snow broke loose from the building and fell to the ground. Luckily, no one was injured. No word if any of the upcoming events at the theatre will be cancelled, but if you have tickets to the Temptations show later this week, keep checking this space for updates.
It was not a good weekend to go ice fishing on Lake Erie. Over 130 ice fisherman were stranded on an ice floe eight-miles long that broke off and floated into the lake. One man died. The incident occurred near Toldedo, Oh., and involved a rescue operation that took about five hours and involved local authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard.
We blogged a few weeks ago about two local real estate appraisers who were facing disciplinary action from the state. Natalie Hurlburt and Kristopher Porter both claimed innocence in paperwork filed with the state.
A body was found in Millcreek yesterday by a a police officer who was jogging. The man has not been identified yet. It may be several days as the body needs to thaw before an autopsy can be performed.
Ed Palattella continues to bring reporting thunder when it comes to reporting on the casino and the dealings with Greg Rubino and others. Sunday’s front page story was no exception. Read it here.
