We hope you enjoyed the great weather this weekend. Okay, it rained but it was warm. We’ll take that any day. By the way, if you didn’t set your clocks ahead this weekend, you’re late for work.

From the you’re doing it wrong department, James Eppley has been charged with conflict of interest and tampering with public records. Eppley was an engineer at the Kinzua Bridge and accepted gifts, including a trip to London from a company hired to repair the bridge. That same company was in the running to complete more repairs on the bridge when it was destroyed by a tornado, which happened ironically enough while Eppley was on said trip to London. Blimey.

Motley Crue played the Tullio Arena this weekend. If you went, post a comment and let it know how it was. Mike saw them in Pittsburgh in 1998, and went mostly because it was free.

As of yesterday, all Circuit City stores are now closed. If you still had a gift card or needed to make a return, you’re out of luck.

Crain’s Cleveland Business has an article on the next push to legalize gaming in Ohio which involves MTR Gaming.

GE Transportation announced Swaady Martin has been appointed Regional Director of Africa. Martin is a native of Cote d’Ivoire and has worked extensively in Africa and has a thorough knowledge of the African continent and its varied rail markets. GE Transportation has has a presence in South Africa since the 1890s.

VoteThe Center for Political Participation (CPP) at Allegheny College today launched a project to capture the sentiments, thoughts and feelings that young Americans experienced as they watched and shaped the 2008 election. The CPP, in conjunction with the Harvard Institute of Politics, is soliciting communications such as outgoing e-mail messages and Facebook postings to be assembled into a scrapbook of the 2008 election season. When finished, “A Cyber Scrapbook: Reflections of Youth on the 2008 Election” will be distributed primarily to colleges and universities for use in studying popular culture and political science. Students can submit items for “A Cyber Scrapbook: Reflections of Youth on the 2008 Election” at cpp.allegheny.edu/cyberscrapbook. Three randomly selected entrants will receive an iPod Touch.

Micky Sartoretto scored what turned out to be the game winner early in the third period as the Kitchener Rangers skated to a 4-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played Saturday afternoon in front of 6,146 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. Zack Torquato paced the Otters with a goal and an assist. Greg McKegg also scored for the Otters, who dropped to 32-29-3-1 with the loss.

The Erie BayHawks (22-17) utilized a frustrating defense to keep the Sioux Falls Skyforce (20-19) off their game and win 96 – 88 in a very physical contest at the Tullio Arena, that saw the BayHawks extend their home winning streak to 3 games. The BayHawks home stand continues next Friday night with a 7:00 PM tipoff against division rivals the Dakota Wizards.

The No. 3 Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team claimed its seventh consecutive College Hockey America tournament trophy as the Lakers rolled past Wayne State, 6-1, in the CHA championship game Saturday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. The team will continue its season next weekend as the Lakers were selected as one of the eight teams that will compete for the 2009 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four Championship. Mercyhurst earned the No. 3 seed and will host St. Lawrence in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m.

Gannon roared back from a 12-point first-half deficit behind the double-double effort of PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player Tyler Stoczynski (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and a bench that logged 52 minutes while the Golden Knights battled foul trouble throughout the night to beat Kutztown 80-65. You can read more at Gannon Hoops. Gannon was announced as a #1 seed in the Atlantic region of the NCAA Division II tournament getting underway March 14. Congrats to the team.

The Gannon women’s basketball team is headed to the Big Dance for the second time in the last three seasons and the sixth time in the program’s 35-year history. The NCAA released the 64-team national tournament bracket Sunday night via a live Internet broadcast.

The Edinboro wrestling team came away with its seventh straight Eastern Wrestling League championship on Saturday at Lock Haven, as four Fighting Scots won individual titles. This also marks the 11th time in the last 12 years that Edinboro has been crowned the EWL champion. Under the direction of Professor Lowell Hepler, chairperson of the music department, Allegheny College will host the 62nd Annual Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band Festival, March 13-15. The festival will conclude with a free public concert on Sunday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium. The concert program will feature works by Sousa, Gandolfi, Grainger, Williams, Davenport and others.
