There’s some drama in the Clerk of Records race. A judge has dismissed a claim by Dan Galena that Pat Fetzner should not be on the primary ballot as his nomination petitions were notarized by Fetzner’s current employees in the County Clerk of Records office.
Lisa Thompson in the Erie Times-News has more on local attorney J. Gregory Moore, who recently turned himself in claiming he stole money from an estate he was managing. Turns out there may be other estates he took money from.

Meadville area readers will be sad to hear that Sandy’s European Marketplace will be closing. The owner, Sandy, is retiring and everything in the store is half-price. The gas pumps will continue to be open. No plans yet for the building, though the owners hinted they may re-open the restaurant with a liquor license. We think there is more to this story – weird to announce 1 person is retiring and the whole place has to close and jobs have to be lost.
The Manufacturers and Business Association has announced that Arlen Ness will appear at the 2009 Roar on the Shore event. The yearly event will be held July 17 and 18.
Communities across the state will see improved airport safety and services when 24 airports receive a $6.6 million investment of federal and state funds, Governor Edward G. Rendell announced yesterday. The Corry-Lawrence Airport will receive $232,537 for installation of an Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) and $153,947 for updating its Airport Master Plan.

Edinboro softball coach Dan Gierlak has described second baseman Dana Webb (Amherst, NY/Williamsville South) as the best position player in Edinboro history. Webb had the kind of week last week that makes that a hard to argue with. For her efforts, the senior has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Player of the Week.
