Dr. Leslie Powers testified yesterday in a hearing to determine whether or not Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong was mentally competent to stand trial. She said that despite several mental conditions, including a borderline personality disorder, she believes Diehl-Armstrong is competent to stand trial. A psychiatrist that testified for the defense disagreed, saying Diehl-Armstrong is incompetent. No word on when the judge in the case, Judge Sean McLaughlin, will rule on the case.

Joel Atkin, 22, is facing charges including homicide and aggravated assault for his actions over the weekend. Atkin was driving when Jayson Sack left his yard to ask Atkin to slow his vehicle down as there were kids in the area. Atkin drew a weapon and killed Sack. Sorry to editorialize a bit here, but this whole story is sad. Sack was merely trying to protect some neighborhood kids. That’s no reason to kill another human being.

Michael Joyce has been ordered to report to jail today to being serving his sentence.

The Millcreek Police Fire Investigator has released a statement saying that while there is no evidence the fire at Granada Apartments was suspicious, the extensive damage does not allow them to determine an exact cause.

Hayes, will conclude Mercyhurst College’s yearlong observance of “Beyond the Dream: The Legacy and Challenge of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr” on Thursday, April 30, at 8 p.m. in Walker Recital Hall. The program is free and open to the public.

The Manufacturer & Business Association announced that Blue Ocean Strategy co-author Renée Mauborgne will attend the Association’s 104th Annual Event on Wednesday, June 17, at the Bayfront Convention Center, and will make a major announcement that evening. Mauborgne is Co-Director of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute and a professor of strategy and management at INSEAD, the world’s second largest business school, located in Fontainebleau, France.

Jason Sack was a good man and father who was taken away too soon. The question why this had to happen seems to be on everyones mind. I will pray for his two kids and i hope others will too. I want him to know he was loved by more people then he he could possibly know. Uncle Pat and Carrie Voorhis

I knew Jayson Sack and his father from their auto repair business. Jayson was always one of the nicest people I've met and was quick with a joke and smile. He'll be missed.

  3. Michael Perseo says:

i am in shock still and dont want to believe it. jason was a really good friend and was always there for me if i or anyone needed him and his family.its sad to see him taken away by someone that doesnt care about the value of life or care about the safety of kids like jason did so much.
