Attention college and high school students: we have a couple of internships available for the summer. If you’re interested in blogging and having fun with social media tools like Facebook and Twitter, fill out our contact form and let us know.

The new Mega Disk-O ride opened this past weekend at Waldameer. Like they did with the Ravine Flyer II last year, they opened the ride a weekend before the rest of the part opens with proceeds from the rides going to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation. Seriously, we can’t wait to ride the RFII again. The new Disk-o ride looks cool, but we would seriously puke on it.

The Manufacturer & Business Association has announced that its 104th Annual Event, featuring the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush, is officially sold out. The event is scheduled for Wednesday evening, June 17, at the Bayfront Convention Center. The Association also has announced that it plans to provide Twitter coverage of this year’s Annual Event throughout the night on the Association’s Twitter feed.

Speaking of Twitter, we’ve added a few more local businesses to our Erie Twitter Directory, including Raven Sound, Bensur Creative Marketing Group and Gannon University. Thanks to everyone who follows @ErieBlogs.

Howlabaloo Dog Park, located between Erie and Edinboro has been named in the June 2009 issue of Dog Fancy magazine as one of America’s Ten Best Dogs Parks. The magazine rated the dog parks from across the country on numerous categories including safety, cleanliness, customer service, beauty and overall physical characteristics of the dog park.

Sports

The SeaWolves completed a three-game sweep of the Altoona Curve with a come from behind victory on Sunday afternoon at Blair County Ballpark. The Wolves continue their road trip with three games at Harrisburg starting tonight. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Pirates had troubles mounting any offense against Johnny Cueto and starter Jeff Karstens struggled with control issues as the Bucs lost to the Reds, 5-0, on Sunday.

Indians ace Cliff Lee dueled the Tigers’ Justin Verlander for seven innings Sunday, but Detroit broke through and won, 3-1. Tribe hitters managed just two hits off Verlander.

Your link to the dog park points to a place holder.

    Hello there,
I was just up for a weekend and you need to seriously put pressure on people in charge to get on fixing the roads. I understand it is just after winter, but there has to be some material out there that will hold up better.

The roads in Erie and Millcreek are totaled. What a toll it is taking on people's cars. I feel bad for everyone who has to drive in Erie right now.
