We hope you had a good weekend and a pleasant mother’s day.

Lt. Col. Darrel Vandeveld of Erie is featured in this Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story. Vandeveld was a US Army Reserve prosector. It’s an interesting story.

Jimmy Z’s was robbed last evening by a woman in a sweatshirt who brandished a pistol. There’s a funny there somewhere, but we can’t think of anything. We’re tired.

Waldameer’s Mega Disk-o ride has a new name, the Mega Vortex. Sadly, our suggestions of the Puke Machine, Vomit Comet, and the Chunder Blunder did not win the contest. 7-year-old Jacob Radziszewski named the ride and wins a picnic with his friends. On Friday, the Manufacturer & Business Association (MBA) thanked the state Senate for honoring their commitment to Pennsylvania taxpayers with the passage of a fiscally responsible budget that seeks to spend $27.3 billion without any new taxes or raiding of the state’s rainy day fund.

Sports

The SeaWolves held off a late charge on Sunday by the Bowie Baysox as they completed a three-game sweep with a 6-5 win at Jerry Uht Park.

The fifth-ranked Mercyhurst College women’s lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon, as the Lakers fell to Lock Haven, 17-11, in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Tournament at Charlotte E. Smith Field.
