As we get closer to the May 19 primary election, Kevin Flowers of the Erie Times-News has a nice breakdown of the races and information on the candidates.

Erie County Council has approved a plan to hire 8 new emergency dispatch workers. It will cost $185,877 to hire the employees. There have been several issues the last few weeks at the new 911 center.

At state parks not named Presque Isle, there is a push to enact legislation requiring the state to re-add lifeguards. We remember blogging last summer that there had been several incidents including a death at unguarded state parks.

EMTA has received a state grant for $421,944 from the state to purchase 6 small transit buses.
