We’re a bit burned out this morning after the Penguins Game 7 last night and 2 hours of Lost, which was typically mind-bending.
The big news of the day is the video posted to YouTube featuring Anthony Buzz Andrezeski attacking Erie County Executive Mark Divecchio. If you missed the video, we posted about it yesterday here. There are some good comments and discussions going on in that post, and we recommend you check it out.
With the primary election coming up Tuesday, we’re not sure what effect this video will have. Will it hurt Divecchio? Will it hurt or help Buzz?
Peter has a good take on the video, in which he encourages Andrezeski to bow out.
I hope his next video is a 9-minute apology to Weber – along with an announcement that he is bowing out of the race.
The Erie Times-News included this in their story about the video:
The nine-minute video had been viewed fewer than 20 times as of 11 a.m. Wednesday. But after the Erie Times-News posted a story about the video on its Web site, GoErie.com, viewership of the video quickly jumped.
We’re not sure what that has to do with the story of the video, or if they are claiming victory for a YouTube video that has 1,300 views. Perhaps they could have talked about how it went viral, jumping from site to site through blogs, such as this one, news sites and Twitter, where we saw initially saw it. If a video is interesting and relevant, it will spread quickly through a community, especially in the age of Facebook and Twitter. We’re not starting a fight, we just think there was an opportunity there.
More election news today:
Ed Brzezinski, running for another term on the Erie School Board, is under investigation by the district for having students from Central Tech do yard work at his house. The students were in the horticulture program and Brzezinski asked for help following hip surgery and the death of his father-in-law. He donated $100 to the horticulture program for the work.
Dan Galena has announced his candidacy for Erie County Clerk of Records on the Democratic ticket. He is employed as a Training & Administrative Coordinator, by Management & Training Consultants, Incorporated and is a 20-year Army non-commissioned officer. He has this to say:
It is imperative that in today’s economic climate public servants work to the best of their ability to be just that, public servants. Distracting the current Clerk of Records’ from his responsibility to serve Erie County citizens are issues ranging from his salaried employees undergoing investigation by Federal agents in a mortgage fraud scheme to the failure of the Clerk of Records to submit more than 60 DUI convictions to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for processing of these convictions. One of these unprocessed DUI convictions led to the death of an innocent bicyclist in Girard, PA. For these reasons and others I have decided to run for election to be Erie County Clerk of Records.

I also saw it first on FB. I don't know why the Times is taking credit for the jump in viewings. This is definitely a low point even for Erie politics! Thank you Buzz, for smearing. Now I remember what I liked about you~NOTHING!
Just like the Erie Times News to take credit for something they had very little to do with. If people think that their local newspaper is unbiased reporting I have some great swampland down here in Florida to sell them.
I am surprised the Erie Time News didn't just pirate the video and put it on their own cheesy Youtube clone. ( which they normally do ) Apparently the Erie Times News doesn't feel that copyright infringement applies to them cause I've caught them doing this many many many times.
Buzz being Buzz in this vid–a.k.a. drunk again.
