Erie PA News, Sports and Events for Thursday, May 21, 2009

We’re traveling for work today so we must be brief.

We wouldn’t know Kris Allen from Debbie Allen or Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, but he won American Idol last night. If you watch Fox 66 over the air or on some cable systems, you missed most of the show’s finale last night due to WFXP’s digital transmitter going down for a few hours last night. We can imagine they got many an angry phone call and email, but they got it back online for the announcement of the winner.

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend – Conneaut Lake Park will re-open starting this weekend. After several years of being closed due to debt issues, a much smaller, scaled down version of the park will re-open. Admission is free.

Sports

The SeaWolves fell in the rubber game of the series against the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday afternoon, 11-5 at Jerry Uht Park.

  1. Matt says:

Kris Allen is actually Debbie Allen's long time penpal and Rick Allen's distant American cousin, four times removed, through marriage. Oh, and they all have a dog. There's the connection.

  2. You are this generation's “Ed Matthews.” Your consistent use of the editorial “we” makes my day.
