The Port Authority will spend $5 million to purchase the former Lord Corporation parking lot on the Bayfront Highway and build a welcome center there. They will also add turning lanes to the highway and new bike and walking paths.
Bad news cider fans – despite the best intentions, the Fuhrman’s Cider Mill will not be rebuilt at it’s former location on Gore Road. It would have cost $1.8 million to rebuild and the Schultz family could not secure funding from local banks. All hope isn’t lost – they may move to another location that would require less funds to rebuild. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

Police have broken up a drug ring that sold pot in Erie and on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jeffrey Lecorchick, 25, from Erie, was named as the head of the operation by PA Attorney General Tom Corbett. Also charged were Todd Aldrich of Erie, Scott Grack of Erie, and Denton Sauers and Brian Showman of Waterford.

Down but never out, the Pirates roared back for an 8-5 victory Monday over the Mets, who had tagged Ian Snell for a five-run lead but slowly allowed the home team to chip away.
The Indians lost to the New York Yankees 5-2 last night. The Tribe open a series in Minnesota tonight.
