Did you attend last night’s Manufacturers and Business Association event at the Bayfront Convention Center last night? If so, how was it? Here’s a video from the Erie Times-News:

The Association has posted a ton of photos on Flickr of the event.

As Congress prepares to overhaul our nation’s healthcare system, U.S. Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-3), Chairwoman of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Regulations and Healthcare, has introduced her first piece of legislation, the Young Adult Healthcare Coverage Act of 2009 (H.R. 2831), to address an often overlooked segment of the uninsured: young adults. This bipartisan, no-cost legislation will provide young adults aged 19-29 the option to gain access to their parent’s or guardian’s health insurance. Known as the “young invincibles”, this demographic has the highest uninsured rate of any group in the country at 31%.

The newly-formed Edinboro Growth Initiative – a collaborative economic development and revitalization effort between the Edinboro Business Association, the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership, and Edinboro University – knows the time is right to reestablish Edinboro’s unique hometown presence in northwestern Pennsylvania. Inviting members of the Edinboro Borough and Washington Township community, the Edinboro Growth Initiative will hold a town meeting/planning session on June 18 at 5 p.m. at the Comfort Suites in Edinboro, situated on Route 6N at Interstate-79.

Sports

The SeaWolves rebounded after a shutout loss Tuesday night, taking down the Portland Sea Dogs 11-5 at Hadlock Field.

The Erie BayHawks will hold a press conference regarding a major team announcement on Thursday, June 18, at 3:30 pm in the BayHawks SkyBox Suite at the Tullio Arena. I guess we’ll know more this afternoon.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have declared the 2008-09 Gannon basketball gameday program and its cover “Best in the Nation” among NCAA Division II institutions.

Mercyhurst College junior Trey Bennett has been named a 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Spring Top 10 Award Winner, as announced by conference officials today.

Alice Cooper will play the Warner Theatre on September 18. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at all Ticketmaster outlets.
