Stunned.

What a week for celebrity deaths.

Was Saturday pretty much the most beautiful day ever? I took the family on the sightseeing boat at Presque Isle for a great trip through the bay and into Lake Erie. If you’ve never took that trip, you should, it was fun. I took this picture from the boat.

The Extreme Makeover Home Edition project continues, albeit with a few setbacks and delays. A tractor-trailer carrying building materials rolled over on E. 18th and East Avenue, tying up traffic for a bit. Construction was also delayed a bit on Sunday due to weather. Work continues – though some of the show’s stars traveled to the reveal of a house they were previously working on.

Spectators are allowed to come to the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” site starting Sunday, June 28. The spectator parking has changed locations. Spectators can now park at Bayfront and State Streets by the Erie Maritime Museum. An EMTA shuttle will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to take spectators to the site to watch the build. Spectators may take canned goods and books for the “Reed and Feed” drive on the shuttle and drop them off at the site.

Sports

images-1.jpgThe Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League selected Erie Otters forward Ryan O’Reilly with the 33rd overall pick in the second day of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft this morning. O’Reilly was rated 39th overall in NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings. The second-year Otters forward finished the 2008-09 season tied for the Otters scoring lead with 66 points in 68 games. Two members of the Otters were selected in the sixth round of the Draft. Jaroslav Janus went 162nd overall to the Tampa Bay Lightning. At 168, the St. Louis Blues took David Shields.

The SeaWolves were swept in doubleheader action on Sunday at Metro Bank Park against the Harrisburg Senators by scores of 5-4 and 1-0. Erie is now on a season-worst six-game losing streak.
