First off, happy Canada day to our friends north of the border.

Check out this Facebook video of water running Glenwood Park Ave. The Erie Times-News has video of a rescue of some Millcreek residents.

Here’s a photo of Napier Park:

Here’s some video from E. Gore Road:

All day yesterday officials were saying don’t drive in standing water, since you don’t know how deep it is and your vehicle could get stuck. That didn’t stop this EMTA bus:

Finally, more views from the city:

The City of Erie and Millcreek have been declared disaster areas, allowing people affected by the flooding to receive aid services and get other resources. Erie averages 4″ of rain for the entire month of June, and meterologist Ray Petelin said that we received almost 5″ in 9 hours.

Hey, it could be worse – Ray Petelin said this on Twitter:

To put today in perspective 4.75″ of rain, using the generic 10:1 rain to snow ratio, would be 47.5″ of snow!!!

Vice President Joe Biden will speak at Seneca High School today to talk about rural broadband and its place in the federal stimulus plans.

A Waterford man killed his wife in their home before turning the gun on himself. Officials say Dean Carson killed his wife Peggy Lee yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday, U.S. Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-3) joined hospital officials, members of HEALTHY Armstrong, Armstrong County elected officials, and others at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) to announce her fourth piece of legislation, the Healthy Communities Act of 2009, and a summer long fitness tour titled, “Congressional Hike & Bike District-Wide Tour”. A clinical dietitian for twenty-five years, Rep. Dahlkemper has made healthy living, obesity, and health care reform central to her tenure in Congress as part of an effort to reign in our nation’s healthcare costs.

Sports

The SeaWolves snapped their longest losing streak of the season with a 5-3 win over the Trenton Thunder in the opener of a four-game series at Jerry Uht Park.

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League selected Russian goaltender Ramis Sadikov with the 36th overall pick in yesterday’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. The 18 year-old stands 6-foot-5, 220 pounds. They used their second round pick (72nd overall) in yesterday’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft to select Russian forward Victor Perezhogin.

The 17 year-old, who is listed as 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, played for Omsk Jr. in 2008-09.

That final video starts near the VA hospital on 38th and goes down Old French Road and 35th Street. The burst pipe is near 34th.
And yes, the video is mine.
