Erie-ite Julia Lillis To Play Charity Show at JR’s Last Laugh

Native Erie gal turned stand-up comedian Julia Lillis returns to Erie for the first time as a headliner at JR’s Last Laugh on Tuesday, July 14.

A portion of the proceeds from the show are being donated to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation. Tickets are $15 with a two drink minimum.

Julia grew up in Erie but has been working as a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles for the last several years.

Julia is a musical comedian known for her quirky melodies and quick-witted lyrics. Her funny tunes gained national exposure when she created and starred in the weekly comedy series “A Song by Julia!” for E! Entertainment; each week writing an original tune based on headlines in the gossip rags.

Julia is a graduate of Our Lady’s Christian School and Mercyhurst Prep. Growing up in Erie, she worked at Dairy Queen and was a paper carrier for the Erie Times-News, even winning the “carrier of the month” at one point! After graduating from Mercyhurst, Julia attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation she was commissioned as an officer in the Navy and spent several years stationed on Guided Missile Destroyers in San Diego, even completing one deployment to the Persian Gulf. While stationed in San Diego, Julia performed regularly at the La Jolla Comedy Store, where she honed her comedy and prepared herself for what was to come once she left the military ranks and joined the Los Angeles comedy circuit. Since 2005 Julia has been a fixture (albeit a quirky one) in the LA comedy scene.
