North East Firemen’s Cherry Festival

Tonight begins one of our favorite summer events, the North East Firemen’s Cherry Festival. This year is the 64th for the festival, which runs through July 18th. The fun begins at 5:30 pm each evening through Friday, and on Saturday starting at noon. Parking and admission are free, and the grounds are located on Route 89 one block north of Route 20 in North East.

The festival will include midway rides, a large kiddie land, great food (including those fantastic cherry pies) along with games and entertainment. The crowning of the “Cherry Queen” will be on Thursday at 7 pm, and Saturday will showcase the largest volunteer fire department parade in Pennsylvania, which starts at 4 pm along Main Street.

The Firemen’s Cherry Festival is the primary fund raiser for Crescent and Fuller Hose Companies, and is staffed by volunteers of these companies. So come on out and show your support with a sausage sandwich or slice of pie!
