Erie PA News, Sports and Events for Monday, July 20, 2009

Mornin’ everyone. Hope you had a nice weekend. We hit up the Cherry Festival on Saturday, it was nice. If you hit up the Roar on the Shore, we hope you had fun – the weather was great despite a little rain Saturday evening. Finally, Waterford Heritage Days took place this past weekend.

Ed Palattella had an interesting front page story in yesterday’s Erie Times-News about the tax-exempt status of the Intermodal Transportation Center. The Port Authority owns the building, and is a non-profit company, but is facing tax bills since some of the building is leased to Hamot and Greyhound. Seems to make sense to us – tax the parts of the building used for for-profit businesses like Greyhound and don’t tax parts occupied by the Port Authority and Erie Regional Chamber.

Sports

The Erie SeaWolves defeated the Binghamton Mets Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium by a score of 5-1.

They surely should be able to, it's not the only mixed-use facility in the city.
