Martin Allen has been acquitted of homicide charges in the death of Kevin Imler. Despite having a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, a jury decided that his impairment didn’t make him turn in front of Imler, who was on a motorcycle. Allen was still convicted on DUI charges. So he was driving under the influence and crashed into another person, killing him, but he’s not guilty of homicide? That doesn’t make sense. Allen will be sentenced August 31.

On Friday, July 17, the University’s Board of Trustees approved Penn State’s 2009-10 tuition rates, ratifying the lower of two possible tuition scenarios—for the lowest tuition increase in the University’s recent history. This results in the following tuition changes for students at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Lower-division Commonwealth Campus students at Penn State Behrend, defined as those who have completed less than 59.1 credits, who are Pennsylvania residents (in-state) will see a 3.9 percent tuition increase, which translates to $226 per semester ($5,971 total tuition per semester).

The local blood shortage has moderated but blood levels remain

Did they term it “manslaughter” at least? Or is the only conviction the DUI?

  2. Juror says:

did it occur to anyone that the motorcycler was legally drunk too?

did it occur he might be alive if he were wearing a helmet?

did anyone ever think that the jury thought he was legally drunk… as in having a couple beers and not the crazy amount of drinking 15 beers in one hour as what the prosecution wants you to believe. seriously…

if you want the facts goto the courthouse and ask for them….. do not believe what the paper says… they give only half truths and their opinion of the matter…..

any stop to think how a 3k pound minivan avoided the accident??? with no skid marks at all

i think a reasonable doubt is here!!!!!!!!

manslaughter while DUI is no fault of anyone else…. ummm if they are both legally drunk and someone tried to beat a light while the other person thought traffic was going to stop…. think about it…. everyone hs been in this 'close call'

involuntary… the person must have total disregard for human life
this guy drove 2 miles and stopped at liberty for traffic to pass…. light turned yellow and made the turn…a bad turn unfortuneately…. and it did result in a terrible accident….

i can go on and on…..after all….. i gave up 6 days of vacation

  3. Jerry says:

If that last comment is that of an actual juror, it is certainly unfortunate. It would seem that he allowed facts that should have no relevance whatsoever cloud his judgment. No helmet? Drunk? It really does not matter. You take your victim as he comes.

Well, I guess having jury of your peers means having the privilege at times to have jurors just as dumb as you are.

  4. Juror says:

    jerry… jack…a$$….

first off thats whats wrong with with such simple minded people like you….

go look at the facts and come up w a decision … dont just form your opinion

sounds as your education is possibly high school???? for an educated person would understand this process of listening ro everything…. even if you believe its crap…. then weigh the info into what really makes sense…????

and her is another thing about opinions…. i am a female and you called me a 'he'!!!!

    you r a jack…… a$$

  5. Eden says:

Did “juror” just say to Jerry “don’t just form your own opinion?” How dare youform an opinion, Jerry! ;)

If Allen was convicted of the DUI, doesn’t that indicate that he was not “legally drunk?” Am I forming an opinion? Should I not be doing that? ;)

  6. curiouscuz says:

does anyone know what happened at the sentencing of Allen?
