Blood Supply Drops To 12 Month Low

Your help is needed now at the Community Blood Bank. They are having critical shortages and need your donation to keep the blood supply locally at a safe level. If you can give, please do so this week and weekend. Here’s a note from Dan Desrochers about the supply:

Local blood usage continues to happen faster than donors are coming in to the Community Blood Bank causing the already low levels to continue to drop. Blood supply levels dropped to a 12 month low as a result of heavy usage and lack luster donor turnout. Everyone is urged to come and give blood.

“It is starting to look like last July and August,” said Dan Desrochers, Director of Marketing at the Community Blood Bank. “And that is very scary. I am really worried about making sure local patients get the blood they need.”

All this week: every donor who tries to give blood at 26th and Peach Street gets a free “Life Saver” T-shirt.

  1. What happened to the daily news?

I miss the humor and quirkyness that this site had. I live in FLorida and still like to keep up on things and all this “Fun Stuff to Do” really doesn't help me.

I am not really liking the direction the site is going. Sorry.

  3. I'm freshly back from England and Wales and it's busy time on camps as classes start in a few weeks. With all that, plus a family, the thing that gets left out is the daily news post. If anyone would like to write it (it only takes 20-30 minutes to do), please let me know, I'd be more then glad to get you an account to help out. That's the only way its going to continue on – with some community help.

  4. Ah, I suppose I didn't take into account your vacation. Perhaps a post for recruitment?
