Mercyhurst Ice Ages exhibit continues at TREC

Mercyhurst College’s annual exhibit of museum-quality fossils and casts continues through Nov. 20 at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at Presque Isle State Park. Visitors can view the magnificent collection during TREC’s regular hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. ‘Hurst students end run of “Twelve Angry Jurors”

A Mercyhurst College student cast presents its final performance of the courtroom drama “Twelve Angry Jurors” on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m.in the college’s Taylor Little Theatre. David Matthews directs the Reginald Rose classic set in a jury room, where all but one juror assume the guilt of a young accused murderer. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students and seniors, and $1 for Mercyhurst students, and will be available at the door. For more information, call 824-3000.

Mercyhurst North East speakers to discuss Japanese culture

Travel to captivating Japan and experience its cultural wonders through the eyes of Mercyhurst faculty Keiko Takioto Miller and Judy Lynch, along with a Japanese exchange student. Their presentation is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Alex Theater on the campus of Mercyhurst North East. Japan is known for its mountainous interior and coastal plains, breathtaking beauty and splendor of its gardens. The country is home to the world’s most advanced transportation, communication and education systems. Its cuisine is singular and delectable and is responsible for producing a society with the longest longevity in the world. To learn more, call 725-6277.

Mercyhurst College slates 18th Annual Career and Job Fair

Mercyhurst College will host its 18th Annual Career and Job Fair on Thursday, Nov. 5, between 1 and 4 p.m. in the college’s Athletic Center. The fair is open only to enrolled area college students or alumni of those colleges. Approximately 80 employers locally, regionally and nationally will be in attendance to discuss full time employment and internship opportunities with students. A few employers may want to discuss part-time or summer employment with students. The fair also is a great networking opportunity for students from all majors interested in a variety of careers. Mercyhurst Dancers celebrate 35th anniversary of program

The Mercyhurst Dancers will launch a yearlong observance of the dance program’s 35th anniversary with a Nov. 7-8 concert titled “35 Years: A Celebration.” The program features many dance disciplines including classical and contemporary ballet, modern, tap and Italian cultural dances, and will also showcase returning alumni Janet Strukely ’04 and Sara Lawrence ’06 and acclaimed guest artist Bill Evans. Performances are Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center at Mercyhurst. Tickets are $15.50 for adults, $12.50 for seniors and students, and $5 for youths under 15, and can be purchased by calling 824-3000.

Mercyhurst ensemble to perform jazz standards

Dr. Scott Meier will conduct the Mercyhurst Jazz Ensemble in a concert featuring standards like “What’s New,” “One O’Clock Jump” and “Fascinating Rhythm.” The program, which is free and open to the public, is set for Friday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. in Mercyhurst’s Walker Recital Hall, Call 824-2394 for more information.

Mercyhurst College welcomes prospective students

Mercyhurst College will host an open house for prospective students Saturday, Nov. 14, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tour the campus, engage with the faculty from your desired academic major, hear from current students and learn admissions and financial aid information. ‘Hurst Wind Ensemble to play music from around the world

The Mercyhurst College Wind Ensemble will present a concert titled “Around the World in Sixty Minutes” on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in the college’s Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. Dr. Scott Meier conducts the program, which features music influenced by musical traditions spanning the globe. It is free and open to the public. Call 824-2394 for details.
