Sunday morning, several men were fishing in a local creek when one of the fisherman cast out and snagged his hook on the body of Dennis Merritt, who lived nearby the creek. The coroner has ruled Merritt’s death accidental. OMG.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Sunday’s 60 Minutes segment about John Kanzius, you can watch it here. You may be surprised to learn that in the last year of his life, Kanzius used the machine on himself. Were we in his shoes, we would have done the same, but still – it’s a shocker. Kanzius didn’t use the nanoparticles that are designed to bind with cancer cells, instead he just bombarded himself with the radio waves of his device. Our hope is this doesn’t set the project back, which Dr. Steven Curley anticipates may enter human trials in two to three years.

You know this budget stuff is never going to end right? Now, Governor Rendell is saying he will veto the table gaming bill because he feels the taxes charged on gaming profits is too low. He wants more money to plug in holes in state revenue and he wants each casino that wants to offer table gaming pay a license fee of $16 million. He wants casinos taxed at 16% – the level passed by the legislature was 12%, with 1% going to the county and 1% for municipalities.

The Savannah Collge of Art and Design’s student newspaper has a profile of Erie-ite Marc Brown, creator of Arthur. My kids have been watching a ton of Arthur, which Netflix streams seasons of. This is more for them.

Sports
