Junior League To Hold Flat Head Prevention Play and Learn Day

The Junior League of Erie will hold a Flat Head Prevention Play and Learn Day for expectant parents and parents and caretakers of infants 0-12 months on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Millcreek Mall Center Court.

Parents and caretakers work one-on-one with professionals at this event to address individual concerns. The event includes a screening clinic, tummy time, sling and safe sleep workshops and helmet treatment information.

The incidence of flat head syndrome in infants has increased dramatically in recent years. The Junior League of Erie launched a campaign in May 2008 to raise awareness and increase prevention of this condition. During the first year of the campaign, 1 in 28 infants in Erie County had visible head flattening and received Early Intervention treatment for the condition.
