Erie friends, we need your help. We got a question in to the site asking what’s being built at 2 local locations. One is on 26th Street near the old Rex location, and another spot near 26th and Caughey. The one near Rex looks like a Wendy’s, which would make sense in that location. Anyone have any info on these projects?
Speaking of new stuff, the new Griswold Park was dedicated yesterday and is now available for everyone to use. Good work to everyone involved and that area is really coming together nicely.
Good news for GE Transportation and the plant’s remaining employees. The company has received an order for 35 locomotives from Canadian National Railway. This is the first order this year for trains that will stay in North America.
The Methodist Towers seems to have an infiltration of bed bugs. An exterminator has been called and will hopefully soon go medieval on them, and by them I mean the bed bugs. It’s been a long week.
Attorney General Tom Corbett has announced that agents from the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, assisted by local police officers from across Erie County and the Pennsylvania State Police, are in the process of arresting 41 suspects linked to a nearly $5 million drug organization operating in and around Erie. More information here. Towelie = stunned.
The annual Thanksgiving dinner for the area’s needy is being moved from the Marketplace Grill to Gannon. The new location will give organizers more area to prepare and allow for more diners to be served. Kudos to Gannon for stepping up and being a part of this event.
Two Giant Eagle stores in Pittsburgh will start selling beer soon a la Wegmans here in Erie. Let’s hope the Erie stores start selling beer as well.

it a mcdonalds…check the millcreek township zoning approvals…must be going after the eastbound am breakfast traffic…$$
I thought Wendy's was decreasing their presence in Erie – So I am surprised that they would be building a new one.
The Griswold Park in my opinion did nothing but decrease the available parking in the area which will hurt the businesses there. It was the only Post Office I had ever been to where the parking made sense or was adequate. Well, I guess they fixed that now.
The site near Caughey is going to be a small eatery and the site near Rex will be a new McDonald's.
Boo to the movie player that starts automatically.
All of those busted this week were charged with “criminal use of a communications facility” (aka a phone), a felony charge for using the phone to set up a drug deal. Damn that seems kinda harsh.
I can understand going after the guys making $160k a month selling drugs but arresting the low level street buyers seems like a dickish thing to do in my mind. One of which was 19 and bought some grass….now he's looking at multiple felony charges.
Someone else will just pop up in the vacuum left by these dealers being popped until some sort of controlled legalization is in place. The black market still exists despite these dudes being taken out of the competition.
I second Nick's boo
Please – Please don make videos on this site start automatically!!!!!!
This is awful….
Thanks.
Sorry – thats how the attorney general's office posted the video.
Well tell them to cut it out! – Remember they work for us.
The 26th & Zuck site is a McD's, as was said above, however the old one will be closed and torn down. I don't know what's going in @ Caughey, but I think it looks oddly like another Tim Horton's. Trying to kill Brickhouse, I presume.
I heard the 26th & Caughy site will be a Hungry Howies Pizza.
been hearing a rumor about Chiptole finally committing to Erie. Anyone else hear anything?
ooh a Chipolte – that would be great! Although so would a Penn Station.
Obviously it's a good news for the employee of GE Transportation and the plant’s . It's a great achievement for the company also.
