The hits keep coming.

Last night, we launched a mobile version of this site that looks incredible on your iPod touch, your iPhone or your Blackberry. Getting the latest news and events on the go has never been easier and we dare say no one else in town offers any sort of mobile experience. If you’ve got one of these fancy devices, it will automatically come up when you hit this page. Mobile is the future, kids. Check out these screenshots:

Today is election day. There are some key races being contested today, and its important we all exercise our right to vote.

Kudos to Michael Colburn who was arrested this past weekend at the Tim Hortons in Meadville. Mikey rolled up to the Timmys at about 4 am, pulled off his boots and took a nap. Timbits = stunned.

Corey Delio, 34, will not face further disciplinary action after he left the scene of an accident back in August. This story was interesting because Delio is an Erie firefighter. He pled guilty and paid fines.

It looks like the Marketplace Grill has closed. Several people commented about this on Facebook. Does anyone have more information on this?

FirstEnergy announced today that five teachers representing five schools in Pennsylvania have been awarded Mathematics, Science and Technology Education Grants. Sister Mary Babik of Saint James School was the winner in our area. The grants, of up to $500 each, will be used for a variety of hands-on projects, workshops and teacher development programs throughout the school year.

Multi-platinum, 2009 American Music Award nominee Shinedown and multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Papa Roach are playing in Erie on December 6 at the Lou. Tickets are now on sale.

Are you sure the Marketplace Grill closed for good? I know they changed hours and are only open for dinner now.

    From http://www.marketplacegrill.net/hours.php

“Marketplace Grill is now open for DINNER ONLY Tuesday
thru Saturday from 5pm to 9pm.”

They are closed Sunday and Monday.

Awesome, awesome job with the mobile version of the site! You are right, I don’t believe any other site in town has ANY kind of mobile interface. Strange that you guys can figure it out but the supposed “heavy hitter” in Erie media can’t.

I even suggested it to the Times in an online survey prior to their redesign. They have a new design but it looks just as horrible on my iPhone as the old one did. Mobile FAIL. I wonder if they’ve figured out yet that I only visit their site when it’s linked to by you…

Keep up the great work, EB! This is always one of my first stops in the morning and now it will be one of my first visits on the road as well.

  3. JimO says:

Great job on the mobile site!!!

  4. Jonathan says:

The Marketplace Grill better not be closed! I’m going to call tonight and find out.

  5. Martin says:

Just a quick thought – “the Lou” is UK slang for bathroom/toilet, perhaps not the best choice of nicknames for the Civic Center.

  6. Mike says:

I think that one is spelled “Loo,” IIRC from my time there this summer. Point taken, though.

  7. Lory says:

VisitErie’s Facebook feed is indicating that MarketPlace Grill is closed, so if that’s not the case, someone needs to advise VisitErie pronto.
