turkeyYes, boys and girls, Thanksgiving Day is finally here.

We at ErieBlogs hope you all have a day full of good food, good drink, and thanksgiving for the love of friends and family, and for the privilege of living in the greatest country on earth….

It is truly a day to thank our God* for all he has given us.

Ready, Set, Dig in……….

The Mazzei & Associates building on Cherry St. suffered fire damage yesterday. No one was injured, but the building may sue.

Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott gave City Council an early Thanksgiving treat yesterday, showing off his 2010 budget. No tax increases are in there, but many fees will be going up, so it’s pretty much a tax increase. Fees that may increase include refuse rates and sewer fees.

If you’re bored and need a break from the family, The Road, filmed in Erie and starring Aragorn from Lord of the Rings opens today. Showtimes are here.

The PNC Bank on Upper Peach was robbed yesterday. No one’s been arrested as of yet.

Daejshon D. Norton, of Erie, was one of four people arrested on charges they robbed students at Kent State University.

Events

Today’s events include eating, napping and football. What else do you really need?

The Gannon University Social Work Club on Saturday, Dec. 5 will host its 32nd annual Christmas Dinner and Wellness Fair.

The dinner is free and open to the public and is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University’s Hammermill Center, 620 Peach St. It is designed to help brighten the Holiday season for those less fortunate local residents who otherwise might not have much to celebrate. The event, which provides a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and free, donated clothing, is in keeping with the University’s Mission of service to one’s neighbor. Gannon University students, faculty, and staff generously give of their time to make the event successful, including setting up for the event and preparing and serving hundreds of meals. Meals will be served starting at 11 a.m., and Santa Claus will visit with the children in attendance at 12 p.m.
