If the county wanted to, they could do the same with the library, have a few paid staff and man the rest with volunteers. It can be challenging, there are days people cancel, and doctor's appointments, or they forget, but over all, I think we only lose maybe 2 days a month due to scheduling conflicts, which in my opinion in pretty good.
It is possible if you can find the people who care.

As far as volunteers for the library go – Yes, they could be found – I run a local historical museum in Florida and we are open 5 hours a day – 5 days a week – 2 shifts a day COMPLETELY WITH VOLUNTEERS!

If the county wanted to, they could do the same with the library, have a few paid staff and man the rest with volunteers.
