Erie County citizens can now cast their votes for the Erie County Police Officer of the month on the ErieAlert.com. This month offers three excellent officers that have gone above and beyond the normal call of duty. Teachers at Harding School nominated Officer Greg Baney of the Erie Bureau of Police. “Officer Barney was kind enough to bring one of our kindergarten students to Harding after a problem at his home and stop at the store after the child told him it was his snack day and his mom forgot to get something. The child was so happy when I saw him in the hall skipping with his bag of goodies in hand. We need more officers like Greg Barney.”
Officer Peter Mitchell of the Erie Bureau of Police was nominated for a different type of heroics when he risked his own safety to help recover a U.S. postal worker that had been trapped under a collapsed porch roof after a heavy snowfall.
And, Officer Jerry Lawrence of the Edinboro Police Department was who is well known and respected by Edinboro residents and Edinboro University students for always taking extra time to resolve issues, listen intently to all sides in criminal investigations and being fair in everyday dealings with the public.
