children through exhibits using story, song, and art-making.
$5 per child, free for Museum members

Second Sundays for ages 5 to adult
A special hands-on program for families the second Sunday of every month. Stop by any
time between 2–4 p.m. and explore a new art-making process and learn to see through artist’s eyes.
Every month offers something different that is cool enough for kids and easy enough for
adults!
$5 adult, $4 student/child, free for Museum members

Photography for Kids
This class introduces both the foundations of photography and how to discuss works of
art. Through demonstrations, group projects, and individual work, students learn about
the interaction of light and materials to form photographs. Additionally, students spend
time looking at images, talking about what they see, and explore how to make great
photographs on their own. For those aged 8-13. Access to a digital camera and a way to
print photos is strongly advised.
Thursdays for 6 weeks starting September 16 from 4-6 p.m.
$85 ($65 members)

Food Art For Kids
Need an opportunity to play with your food? Here is a chance to explore making
sculptural and colorful snacks and appetizers. Make space stations out of fruit,
experiment with a pastry bag using mashed potatoes, create a veggie car or cell phone,
and more! Other than the occasional dash of food coloring, all art projects are both
delicious and healthy. Ages 5-10.
Saturdays for 4 weeks starting September 18, from 10-11 a.m.
$60 ($40 members)

Halloween Costume Making
Ready for a spooky good time? Kids create their own Halloween costume from concept
to completion using materials such as boxes, fabric scraps, and paper-mache. Students
also have the opportunity to design business cards for their unique character (we here at
the Museum want to make sure the Ghostbusters know who to call). All students are
invited to showcase their costumes in a parade during the grand opening of our new
building Saturday, October 23rd! Ages 6–12.
Saturday October 9 and 16 1-3:30 p.m.
$60 ($40 members)

Stop Motion Animation
Explore the magic of creating your own stop motion animation film! Students work in
small groups to develop a movie from start to finish using materials such as clay, action
figures, paper, and our own bodies. Students will create their own characters, develop a
script, add sound effects and learn basic editing techniques. At the end of the course,
everyone will take home a copy of their film on DVD with the option of posting their
work online! Ages 8-14.
Tuesdays for 7 weeks starting November 2 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
$95 ($75 members)

Parent Child Clay
Here is a chance for children to learn alongside a parent, grandparent, or adult friend.
All participants have an opportunity to throw cups and bowls on professional quality
potter’s wheels, and learn how to create tiles, trophy cups, and cookies jars. Everyone
also learns proper handling and glazing methods. The small class size ensures
personalized instruction for everyone, making it a great experience for beginners.
Everyone creates lots of finished pieces to take home. Ages 4 to 104. Students 9 and
older may take class without an adult.
Sundays for 6 weeks Starting September 19 from 2-3:30 p.m.
$215 ($160 members) for one adult and one child $110 ($90 members) for child alone.

A complete course listing is available online at www.erieartmuseum.org, and registration is required one week prior to class start.
