Philadelphia’s Phantasm will take the stage at Sherlock’s on State Street on Thursday October 14th. The show will be filmed for a live concert DVD, expected to be released next year.
“Phantasm thrives in a live environment and a show is never exactly the same. We want to capture in pristine audio and video, what might happen on any given night.” Said singer/guitarist Steven Rosplock.
“We chose Sherlock’s because we have a great history performing there. It’s one of the two or three venues we got our start in.”
Phantasm won the RockErie Battle of the bands in 2005.
Steven, along with bandmates Aaron White, and Jay Yachetta have a reputation for putting on high energy live shows and pushing the boundaries of what a rock band can do on stage, including the use of unconventional instruments and power tools, live looping, improvisation, and moments of chaotic noise.
“We really want people to see what our live show is all about,” said Bass player Aaron White. “even if they aren’t located in the Northeast where we do most of our touring.”
The band will be playing songs from their 2010 album Graph The Pulse, including “Better Off Worse” and “Found Nothing” which can be heard at enterthephantasm.com.
Phantasm will also take this opportunity to showcase some brand new material.
“Our new songs show us taking a step from being a band trying to prove themselves, to one that can connect and strike a chord with people.” Said drummer, Jay Yachetta.
Last year Phantasm toured the East Coast with Living Colour and got some advice from guitarist Vernon Reid. “There are more ways to connect with people than just aggression.”
“We really took that to heart and I think it shows on these new songs” said Yachetta.
Following Phantasm’s performance, Erie’s own Red Light Romance will continue the evening.
Sherlock’s is located at 508 State Street. Doors are at 9pm. For more info visit www.enterthephantasm.com
