‘Tis the last day of the year.
And, instead of me giving you an update, I’d like you to give us an update.
How’s ErieBlogs doing?
We don’t get a ton of comments, although we have an extremely good readership, which makes me wonder… why? Especially since, unlike some places, commenting is absolutely free. Although, admittedly, we do insist on a certain level of civility.
If there was a weekly Open Thread where you could leave comments about anything ( in a mature and intelligent manner, obviously… and did I mention free of charge?), would you? Something akin to an electronic “Letters to the Editor” perhaps?
Or maybe you’ve got some other ideas?
And, most importantly, what would you like to see happen in Erie … the City and/or the County… in 2011?
Finally, best wishes for a happy and healthy new year. If you’re going out, be careful… it’s amateur night.

I’d gave your request a day of thought and I would just like to say first thank you and Mike for Erieblogs. I enjoy reading the site. I visit frequently. Your idea of a “Letters to the Editors” thread should start even if only on a trial basis. Sometimes people need an outlet for their thoughts, fears, and opinions on some of the news we are viewing.
As for Erie, I hope we see growth and more cooperation. I fear there are challenging times ahead with increased costs and decreased income but as the English say, “A smooth sea never made a skilled mariner!” [old English proverb]
Keep up the good work! Happy 2011!
The LTE idea is a good one, but it will be very difficult to police civility, although I believe that to be key. Topix is toxic and you don’t want to go there.
I assume the idea of the partnership with OutsideErie and a newsletter is dead and gone.
It would be nice to see a more regional approach. There is a lot to northwestern PA that is important to Erie that is south of I-90.
Anything that tells us what is going on…..from Friday Eve until Monday A.M., we have no news input. Try this for a start:

This feed is 24/7 but Erie needs anything on the weekends.
