Miss Roar on the Shore to be Crowned Saturday, July 16

Miss Roar Contestants 2011
Click for a larger version.

The 2011-2012 Miss Roar on the Shore will be crowned at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, prior to the Rock ‘N’ Roar Concert at the Main Stage in The Hub at Perry Square, located in the heart of downtown Erie.

The contestants will take the stage just prior to this year’s headline concert featuring LoCash Cowboys. Crowd participation will determine the winner of the contest, who will be crowned by Miss Roar on the Shore 2010-2011, Kelly Donlon.

The six contestants, selected during preliminary rounds at Sherlocks/Park Place and the Boardwalk Complex, are: Lisa Dean, Katie Marzka, Raine Raven, Rachel Timmons, Jordyn Toplovich and Emilee VanScooter. They will be collecting donations throughout the three-day rally, which will help in determining this year’s winner.

“We have six great contestants this year, and look forward to crowning the 2011-2012 Miss Roar on the Shore in front of Saturday night’s crowd,” said Roar on the Shore spokeswoman Tammy Polanski.

The winner receives a $500 cash prize, and the remaining contestants each receive $200 cash.

All proceeds from the fourth annual bike rally benefit the construction of the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania

  1. yikes says:

    should we invent a term similar to “brain drain” recognizing how slim the talent is in Erie?

  2. Danny Lucas says:

    The comment by “yikes” is totally demeaning to the women, and this community.
    Free Speech is a guarantee in the land, but a tad of thought to what is written needs to be added to that right.

    All of these young women are somebody’s daughter, sister, cousin, and it appears at least one, a wife. None deserve the comment asking for a derogatory term be created for them. Why? The article is clear.

    “They will be collecting donations throughout the three-day rally, which will help in determining this year’s winner.” …….

    “All proceeds from the fourth annual bike rally benefit the construction of the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania”

    In the War on Terror, as in nearly all wars in this country, Pennsylvania took a stand. Washington crossed the Delaware from Pennsylvania in a surprising and daring moment; the Niagara and War of 1812 involved Ohio primarily, but also PA; Gettysburg has been consecrated into “hallowed ground” by the shedding of blood and changed the entire war. An Underground Railroad is part of Erie History, and individual freedom.

    Shanksville was the first response to Osama Bin Laden launching his terror to end this land of the free and home of the brave. “Let’s Roll” became a clarion call of a few who decided to do something to save others. As in Gettysburg and others listed or not listed….WWI and II, Korea, Persian I and II, Afghanistan and Iraq, folks from PA are always among the first to answer “Send Me! (Isaiah 6:8)

    The above pictured young women are honoring the tenth anniversary of the War on Terror, and the key role played in Pennsylvania….the first fist aimed back in the war, but often neglected or forgotten, due to the immensity of the Trade Towers and the targeting of power, known as the Pentagon.

    In two simple sentences in this post, the article is clear that ALL funds go to the Memorial outside of Pittsburgh. Further, the effort to collect donations plays a part in winning the title coveted by these women.

    To think that Erie, PA plays a part in the tenth anniversary of the Shanksville Memorial effort via these young women probably does require a new term be posted for these who stand and take action, instead of lament and contribute nothing.

    Those who are gifted with fantastic visionary qualities are known as reverie folks.
    So if “yikes” needs a new title, let us honor these gals with that term….
    revERIE women of value and great worth.

    Reverie is the basis of today’s “rave”.
    [C14: from Old French resverie wildness, from resver to behave wildly, of uncertain origin; see rave 1 ]

    And I enjoyed this quote on “reverie”, and its appropriate application to this week’s events:

    “Reverie is not a mind vacuum. It is rather the gift of an hour which knows the plenitude of the soul.”

    In the last week of His Earthly life, Christ was anointed by a woman. She broke a nard of expensive oil and proceeded to anoint his body, using her hair.
    The traitorous Judas, spoke up and said: “That oil is worth a years wages and it could have been used for the poor”. Few times in Christ’s life was he angry.
    This was one. He tore into Judas and replied :
    ” And they scolded her. But Jesus said, “LEAVE HER ALONE. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me. She HAS DONE WHAT SHE COULD;”
    ~~~ Mark 14:5-8
    To those who detract from Miss Roar On The Shore, I echo the Lord and reply to your request for a new name (above)……LEAVE HER ALONE! SHE HAS DONE WHAT SHE COULD.
    And in the process of revErie, we are all the better community for their quest and deeds.
  3. SuzanneT says:
    as a woman, I’m not offended at all. Danny, please dont defend us. You are not one of us and certainly shouldn’t be speaking on our behalf. I kind of agree with yikes.
  4. Danny Lucas says:
    I will certainly speak out on behalf of women when I feel the need, Suzanne T.
    With eight sisters and two daughters, I am used to women being around, in many age groups, and am keenly aware of their versatile opinions.
    Further, I am not defending as you state, but giving MY opinion, just as you are entitled to do with your opinion.
    However, as a woman who agrees with “yikes” and his call for a new name to denigrate women, who are doing a good thing for our community, I stand by my statement, and, as you request, omit Suzanne T. in coverage by my comment.
    I will add that one need not be a woman in order to speak on the issue.
    That part of your request must therefore be denied.
    Speaking out on women’s behalf is not limited to one gender/sex.
    Yikes makes no claim to being either gender/sex.
    For that reason alone, I exempt both of you from my comment, and publicly state my views on Erie, its input to 9-11 and funding a memorial, and all the rest, without the need for a hideous moniker,…. remain my view.
    You, Suzanne T., do not represent men, but I have no qualm with your opinion, just as I would not open the car door for you, upon your request.
    Que sera sera.
  5. Danny Lucas says:
    Sorry Alfred. I do NOT respond to Trolls.
    I did jot a note to Mike at Erie Blogs, than put it away.
    Your comment makes it worth while to post, since newer readers remain unaware of your past postings as a Troll.
    An open note to Mike, at Erie Blogs:
    When I made a comment on this post, Yikes was the only comment in appearance.
    Sometime this day, an “Alfred” showed up prior to me, and a Suzanne T. following me. Comments are few at Erie Blogs, so a good thing may be occurring for you.
    Or not!
    On December 30, 2010, I wrote and exposed a Troll on many Erie Bloggers, and Stephanie wrote of the “nutter” and how she dealt with him.
    To your (right side) blog list, there is a Blogger who posts rarely now, but I am glad he is up on your board. Books, Toys, and Games has a final post.
    The racist, hateful, homophobic “Danny’s Place” appearing in many bloggers, was used to defile my name. You noted the evidence I sent you, and declared Trolls not welcome.
    But Trolls not only change name, but Avatar.
    What the Troll we have as a guest in Erie anew, on many blogs, especially young women in their 20′s, he can change his Avatar, but prior comments assume the Avatar and keep the posted name for the comment.
    Books, Toys, and Games is a great example.
    Click it and see a comment by “danny” of danny’s place” with the black man crying out with missing teeth as an Avatar. That was how it appeared originally.
    (I sent you copies).
    He now changed his Avatar to “Alfred”, as in the Mad Magazine guy.
    The avatar at Books, Toys, and Games has morphed to Alfred now, but kept “danny” as he posted the comment long ago.
    Now click the Avatar and at the base, we find his Topix troll name of Mr. Pennyworth. Many of his pseudo names are from batman characters.
    He seeks to generate controversy and a Topix comment-like atmosphere.
    Since neither “yikes” nor SuzanneT have commented here before (to my knowledge) and Alfred has clearly been exposed for unethical deeds online, and just happens to be in this series of comments, it behooves you to note the IP addresses involved for all folks on this commentary for this post.
    My commentary on identity theft by others and myself, as well as character asassination, are noted on Erie Blogs comments of December 30, 2010.
    The same post warns of our friend Alfred, since Mike is not fond of Trolls.
    A.T. Pennyworth, is Danny’s Place, “Danny”, danny, and above, “Alfred”.
    With Erie Topix gone, and an aware audience at other venues, your Comment Box is prime for Trolls.
    Others can catch up (to protect their own blog) by rereading Mike’s views on Trolls and my own commentary exposing the one who presents multiple personalities in Erie Blogger Blogs.
    http://www.erieblogs.com/2010/12/30/erie-pa-news-sports-and-events-for-thursday-december-30-2010
    Last, Suzanne T, I do not yet know if you are you, or Alfred. However, I reread my comment to you and wish to expand on the last line for clarity. It could be misunderstood as is.
    “You, Suzanne T., do not represent men, but I have no qualm with your opinion, just as I would not open the car door for you, upon your request (to NOT open your car door).
  6. Danny Lucas says:
    PS. Note the first comment NAME and then the Avatar with it.
    http://bookstoysgames.wordpress.com/2010/12/25/about-santa-claus-and-that-naughty-nice-list/#comment-1860
    Troll.
    Now, Click the Avatar and the owner name is listed as associated with the picture called “Alfred”.
    Name: Pennyworth. Just like on Topix Boards.
    Troll.
    Good luck cleaning house Mike! Save those IP addresses.
    For those needing knowledge on trolls, Wiki speaks and says DNFTT
  7. Ray D. says:
    Just for the record, I caught on pretty quickly that the “Danny” linked above wasn’t you. But I didn’t realize that he was a troll to all the other bloggers.
    I am going now to remove his post.
  8. Danny Lucas says:
    Ray D., and Erie, PA,
    He is persistent. YOUR venue is one of few that the Avatar opens, to reveal identity at the left base. That has been handy in making my case, which ironically was brought to my attention by someone looking for me on Google.
    Damage control was in order.
    He is embedded in thought, word, and deed with the blog, “That Guy From Erie”, and Kerner dialogs away with a nonperson often.
    That Guy from Erie is a major writer headlined at Erie Blogs.
    Alfred is all over in there.
    But the best example of his Trolling now is on the unaware, blogger,
    “amelia grazia”, who scrolls Erie Blogs, but is not listed in the right side column.
    Like your blog, she mixes discussion from faith, to weddings, to design…an eclectic array of readings. Amelia has “35″ FOLLOWERS.
    But a simple glance at the Avatars shows the old toothless “danny” black man, in row three, and the prolific “Alfred” in row four.
    They are the same person, and his schtick, as Alfred, has been to hang with the 20-something female bloggers, though he is older than that generation of writers.
    It is an un-cozy relationship to observe, and the gals are unaware.
    He can do this elsewhere, as the Avatar does not open to reveal “Pennyworth” on many FOLLOWER spots.
    Here is our Erie Troll at amelia grazia under TWO avatars, the black, homophobic “danny” and the odd “Alfred”.
    http://ameliagrazia.blogspot.com/
    Check row 3 and 4.
  9. Danny Lucas says:
    EB Spam Filters wisely require fewer links in a post.
    This is continued from above comment.
    Also note the new blog on EB, “Radio Free Erie” by Jeff Johns.
    This blog confused me as I thought it was Joel Natalie of Press and Tower, on his other blog, with long standing here, called “Radio Free Jo Jo”
    The posts that are running on Radio Free Erie….supposedly “local” thought, are exactly posted on a separate blog. Indeed, if you review the “About Me” profile, this blog has created 8 or 9 new blogs, on a variety of topics, and the vast majority show “NO POSTS”.
    I have a feeling our local Troll is preparing a massive expansion in comments at any post made there.
    Within the 20 year old gals, “Alfred” goes from blog to blog, using the gals Blogroll to invade more and more. They have no clue.
    We need to police ourselves locally; this guy is NOT gonna stop.
    Do Not Feed The Trolls.
    You starve them off this site, and more.
    Sometimes I see this as a personal vendetta, similar to Erie Blog Watch ripping into any comment I made anywhere. But, I believe it to be a genuine Troll, common to the Internet world of commentary.
    I will also add I was surprised to see one of the original principals at Erie Blogs befriending my own 20 something daughter.
    Like amelia grazia, she has no clue to prior writings of this blogger on her father.
    That will soon be rectified, when I dig up stored hard copies of foul words long ago, leading to an apology from this site. For that, I was grateful.
    On a free day, peruse “Radio Free Erie” (not the rabid content of posts) but the About Me page. There are about 8 blogs supposedly; none have postings on the majority.
    And Radio Free Erie is identical to “Idiot Politicians”.
    They are word-for-word, identical!!
    “Idiot Politicians” IS “Radio Free Erie”, and the former was started in the midst of Mike, removing “Alfred” at Erie Blogs comments above, a few days ago.
    I am sure this is a coincidence :)
    But I wonder why you need to include ERIE in the wording of your blog, which is identical to another blog you put out.
    http://idiotpoliticians.blogspot.com/
    IS
    http://r-f-e.blogspot.com/
    Here is the future of NO POSTS, ready to be trolled.
    Open any of the blogs. Most show “NO POSTS”
    http://www.blogger.com/profile/04315501206829674814
    Click on 5 of the 8, and there is zip posting with a man from “Pennsylvania”, writing Radio Free Erie, and Idiot Politicians as the SAME posts.
    The appearance of the Pennsylvania he is from,…… is Erie, eh?
    He has one anonymous comment, warning him to not let comments from a commenter, whose name sounds like “fanny”.
    Imagine telling a blogger who you will allow to comment on THEIR blog.
    And the comment is timed with removal of “Alfred” in this thread.
    Last, this blogger has been on BLOGGER since November 2007.
    That was the period Erie Blog Watch was born, and began to evaluate and “watch” our Erie Blogs, …..and besmirch comments I made anywhere, destroying dialog.
    I credit Mike at Erie Blogs with taking swift action to stop the nonsense, and sometimes, illegal posts.
  10. Danny Lucas says:
    Hello Erie,
    Mike at Erie Blogs, and several bloggers (excepting amelia grazia) have also removed our Troll.
    Here is an example of TROLL REVENGE, started in July 2011…the time of removal at Erie Blogs:
    http://www.blogger.com/profile/07249687724977196760
  11. Amy says:
    I have removed his comments and removed followers. I would have appreciated a headsup on my blog rather than in the comments on ErieBlogs. Do you have any other advice to block trolls?
  12. Ray D. says:
    Dealing with undesirable guests on your blog is a difficult subject. Hit the delete key too much, and you are mean and unwilling to allow disagreement. Hit it too little, and the neighborhood quickly deteriorates.
    I see he has posted twice more on my blog. One was unpleasant and off topic, so I deleted it. The other was just mildly annoying. He isn’t impersonating Danny this time, so I’m just keeping a close watch on him. Not that my blog is very busy these days anyhow.
  13. Danny Lucas says:
    @Amy @Ray D @ Erie,PA
    This is a swift moving topic and a swift moving TROLL.
    Mike at Erie Blogs can confirm I have dealt with this problem, not for months, but for years. Indeed, this problem is also personal attack, and goes back years to such sites as Global Erie, and GoErie.
    There are few blogs at Erie Blogs that I have not read over the years.
    And at many, I comment. Blogs are prolific (100,000 a DAY are born) but comments are at best, meaningless, or not worth the time to read.
    I also maintain a scrolling platform of reads, titled “Comments Better Than Post” and scroll back to read the resuling discussion of intelligent commentary.
    There are few writers at Global Erie I have not read too.
    This even went back to the mid-2000 decade, when Peter Panepento was at GoErie, and the site continually crashed from spam. I would report an item to Peter, back then, and he once told me I am likely to know MORE about the GoErie board, and ongoings than he was. He was correct!
    I do not know if Global Erie will ever return; I do know it no longer exists from links anywhere, a likely development from renewal of the website….a guess by me.
    But the site ended due to good fortune — a healthy promotion at a day job– not spam, Trolls, and malware problems.
    In my experience at GoErie and Global Erie, I learned that if I ignored the attack commentary, spam, trolls, etc., it grew negative and exponentially so.
    A response was created EACH time an attack occurred, and moderation was needed, and indeed, employed at times.
    But bloggers write out of a desire to express themselves, have a keen interest in a topic like photography, design, politics, faith and more. Few are paid.
    The blog takes second place to real life.
    Thus, it becomes up to an audience, a community of readers, to help one another, as the Amish do when a house burns down, and ALL…..stop what they are doing and lend a hand, free of charge to rebuild in days.
    They know it will be reciprocated for them too.
    That said, I can kill a termite by stepping on it with my shoe, on the sidewalk.
    But if my house is infested with wood eating termites everywhere, and my house being devoured from within, my brother in Florida told me they wrap a house in a plastic bubble and inject the appropriate exterminating compound. Every human is outside for a full day minimum, and 100% of the bugs are killed.
    This was an ongoing, moment by moment, affair on July 20, 2011.
    Comments from this topic continued, in an ongoing pace here:
    http://www.erieblogs.com/2011/07/20/midweek-music-lucy-rose#comments
    I placed them at the most recent Erie Blog post, as more likely to be read, than older posts here. It is a conundrum at Erie Blogs, that few comments appear here on any post. The best way to be read is on a current post.
    Just read the time stamps and see it was a daily thing, and I had the time to respond, due to being in the hospital once a week for the past five weeks.
    @Amy, I can NOT do it alone, nor can anyone else.
    This troll has stuck with Gravatar to re-morph multitudes of times after exposure and ruined identity of a name. He now employs Blogger, and the profile is in the link at the first comment in the above link from 2 paragraphs back.
    This will allow Mr. troll to re-morph even more easily, and indeed he has.
    “Fanny Lucas” appears now as “Fanny”, on the blog “Brooke and Freeland”.
    While I would love to give her a personal “heads up” as you desired, she happens to be a mom who gave birth to a second child, yesterday, and the last think she needs to hear is “a Troll is on your blog”.
    I was impressed by her removal months after it happened long ago, of a troll comment directed at me. She apparently reviews her blog Archives, as this is the principle spot where spammers begin to include comments, when no one is looking, and they will not get caught there. Brooke DID catch it and removed it.
    With Blogger, Mr. Troll will be able to change names far more easily, but not have an Avatar with it.
    Again @Amy, the troll wrote on “And Then I Found $5″, and she and you have publicly expressed an association. I commented yesterday there, and asked *kc, the blogger, to note the troll is not in compliance with her comment policy (at the base of her blog)…… SHE forbids harassment…. and I asked her to inform YOU of this dreaded character, as I was busy placing plastic wrap over all of Erie Blogs, not stepping on one termite on the sidewalk.
    *kc removed the troll, and appropriately did not post my heads up to her, and the request to tell you what is going on. My comment never appeared in public, and the Troll comment was removed. There are 0 comments on the post now.
    I have a copy of the Troll comment and my own to *kc, that I would be happy to send to you directly, should you desire. However, your willingness to put out this Troll would be far higher in my opinion, by being told to you by a best friend, than coming from a commenter. I may have erred in that judgment, but I have also followed up at your site with a personal “Thank You”.
    This Troll is blooming all over Erie Bloggers, and indeed exists in an Erie Blogger headliner, “That Guy from Erie”. I can not go to every blogger on every post and point out the Troll. I CAN point to Erie Bloggers in general, include a few links for them to read, and say “You decide if this matters to you to eradicate”.
    But the posts were so prolific every where at once, that when I sent an Erie Blog comment, with many links, it went into moderation ( a filter PLUS, to stop spam).
    Moderation also helps give more time to a troll to go everywhere, while the alert waits comment approval by the blogger.
    Every word you print is on Erie Blogs, but your posts scroll, and disappear.
    If I do not happen to see your post as it scrolls, I can not alert you of a troll.
    Worse, lately Erie Blogs has “What’s New On Erie Blogs”….a scrolling list of recent posts by any blogger, ….limited to a sole blog, not a list.
    THAT should be rectified, and amelia grazia should be added to the right column list of Erie Bloggers.(she carries Mike’s button; he should carry her link)
    Because Erie Blogger’s disappear here often, I have my OWN, Erie Blogger list that I can scroll myself, and choose any. Sometimes I access an Erie Blog without coming here to this site, but from MY OWN scroll platform.
    Last @Amy, “Alfred” has gone through your blog roll and infested your friends too.
    “Hannah (Culture Connoisseur) ” comes to mind currently, but you may want to alert them all to review their archives, and these varied names.
    continued…..
  14. Danny Lucas says:
    @Ray D and anyone else,
    You noted above that you caught on quickly that “Danny” was not me.
    I never knew that until July 17, 2011, despite the comment made at your site by “danny” last Christmas, as the toothless black man avatar.
    Your readers may believe that he is Danny anyway, as the issue was never discussed.
    Therefore, troll purpose to malign me was accomplished.
    He created a blog called “Danny’s Place”, a homophobic, pornographic, racist series of posts, and in his first post….used my full name. I have hard copies of every post he ever made (over 60) for use in legal action. In all his posts, he received ONE comment. A fellow name Wizo was not happy to be associated there and wrote one word comment: “Damn.”. (his words were stolen from another blog comment).
    “Danny’s Place” posted pictures of my supposed family, mom dad, brothers, and sisters. I happen to have a large family of 12 siblings (10 of us still living) and my mom had 99 grandchildren when she died. My first view of Danny’s Place as it scrolled Erie Blogs, came upon return home from putting flowers on my mother;s grave.
    I then read Danny’s Place, and his post on my mother, with a fake picture of a prostitute, and describing her work habits. “Danny” announced this was a picture of “his” mom. I had just left her grave moments before.
    “Danny” did not know she died.
    This is called personal attack.
    Indeed, he posted a picture supposedly of ME, with my actual name…..later removed and changed from Danny Lucas to Danny Doofus…..still personal attack.
    This is a sicko character, as he went on to post movies of the Japanese jumping penis act, and worse. All of this scrolled some 60-ish times on Erie Blogs.
    His blog no longer publicly exists; however, I have EVERY post he has ever made in a secure place, copied for legal action as needed.
    If I take my mouse pointer and go to your face above, nothing happens.
    YOU, at Books, Toys, and Games Blog, employ an updated Gravatar, that when a mouse points to an avatar, it opens up to reveal information on the commenter.
    Your own face notes you are an engineer, etc. It is a delightful feature.
    “Danny” did not know of this feature, as for the most part, he can NOT be “opened” and explored. The base shows the owner. in his case, Pennyworth was the Gravatar owner….and Batman’s butler. (He uses all Batman characters as names, and more).
    You tended to stop blogging, and the Christmas comment by “danny” remained.
    Meanwhile, he switched to “Alfred’ (pennyworth’s first name, btw). and his new avatar began to appear. Since you were not posting new material, his OLD “danny” toothless black man avatar changed to Mad Magazine faced Alfred, but maintained the name “danny”. BOTH of his titles appeared in a sole spot.
    That was gold to catching this guy. Further, the opening up of the Gravatar showed the base name as owner being pennyworth. The responsible party for Danny’s Place blog could now be traced by me. I am grateful.
    I have maintained a “copy” of every comment I have made anywhere, and store it for uses such as this, or when a blogger “edits” or deletes paragraphs that significantly change what I have expressed. Nationally, and locally, not all bloggers are ethical.
    In Erie, few Letters To The Editor are printed as written. edits occur; sometimes for space, sometimes for content, and sometimes the ETN does not like your view, or YOU. Ever notice the same writers are printed over and over there?
    Further, many, many blogs shut down over time and all is “lost” as Google search engine “bots” can not retrieve what is no longer at the tracking source.
    NONE of mine are lost. I have every comment I have ever made BEFORE posting, and after pubic appearance. I do not blog; I comment, although I have at times substituted for bloggers at their request and posted a blogpost for them.
    I prefer to initiate discussion via comments.
    Long ago, I needed to update computer skills, as I learned you can not fill your car with gasoline without a modicum of computer skills these days. I went to Tri-State locally and picked up some nifty knowledge of computers.
    I recall an early class on “MS-DOS”. This is Bill Gate’s early Microsoft Direct Operating System, the actual guts of a program within todays software.
    Students faced all four walls, none in the center of the room, as they computed and printed.
    DOS class explained how things worked internally, and has been handy in overriding later Versions from Microsoft, that were not needed. (like a dog coming out of a doghouse on MS Word asking me dopey questions on what I want to do…I think Windows 98, off hand).
    In that class, people were touching computers for the first time, and in awe that they could use “paintbrush” and a palatte of colors to draw anything like a first grade kid. They would spend hours and enjoy the thrill of the power.
    Soon, we went to Wordperfect, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Lotus 1-2-3, dBase, and a host of Window based software programs. As it got deeper and deeper, I began to notice something about my classmates.
    In MS-DOS, booting a computer took many minutes, and “Paintbrush” and programs were slow as molasses. Yet, as a first time user, people were thrilled, smiling and happy. By the time programs became sophisticated, these same people were antsy with 8 seconds of waiting for the screen to apply what they did.
    They began to curse, slam the side of computers with both hands.
    It was like folks talking to a TV program,…. and, as if a football play would change because you shout it out. Pandemonium reigned; patience and joy from the first classes became frustration and cursing at later times….all due to the same computer taking a second or two of your life to do what you requested.
    This was long ago.
    Yet, the frustrations inside folks have grown exponentially on everything.
    At no time in history have folks had it so good with new media, transportation, communications (Face Time on IPhones…where you each see one another as you talk) and greater things.
    Yet, impatience has risen, road rage increased, evil language and deeds done online, Trolls, spam, hacking, malware, and worse going on.
    Our government is on the verge of collapse and breaking down due to these same causes. The computer has given us each personal power, and we carry that to all areas of life apparently. We are NOT happy campers any longer.
    In road rage, deaths have sometimes resulted.
    Online, the murder is of reputations.
    By Trolling and posting my name on porno, homo, racist rants, Google Search Engines pick these up to destroy me personally…..at the delight of a troll.
    But Google Search stores NOTHING. It sends “bots” to crawl on the web lines linking to the original source, retrieve the search request, and return 16 million of them in 0.7 seconds.
    Power has shifted to the writer!
    If you remove content, the “bots” sent out on a search come back empty handed.
    It is as if the words never existed. Truth now resides on a warped curve.
    Recently, Kate Middleton was in Alberta, Canada in a yellow dress. The wind shifted and blew, to reveal her entire behind in full view, wearing panty hose and a thong.
    It was printed in many Canadian papers online and other spots that like that stuff, like Drudge Report.
    Today, you can find early pictures of the wind starting to lift her dress, but the original full exposure of her thong is long gone. The Toronto Globe or Ottawa Press or whoever posted it, also removed it, …..and Search Engine “bots” scoot out when you request it, and come back in 0.2 second with nothing.
    The event truly happened, but your computer will tell you it did not.
    TRUTH is being distorted.
    Indeed, the creation of Google Suggest, where as you type a letter at a time on your keyboard into Google, a drop down of places to go appears from nowhere “suggesting” what you may be searching for.
    Businesses are now “cheating” to foul up Google algorithms to make Google Suggest …..suggest THEM to YOU, in your search.
    This is further complicated when someone intentionally enters data on the web, to murder a reputation, spam a site to overload and shut down for maintenance, hackers taking money from banks, military secrets flying around the globe making us vulnerable…..we are becoming helpless.
    Some folks react negatively, and try to make themselves taller, by making YOU smaller. As said centuries ago, “The pen is mightier than the sword”.
    And what was sent out to murder a reputation, can be shut down and disappear in a wink, leaving the source free to do so again at will. THIS….is our “Alfred”, etc.
    Erie Blogs is a successful aggregator for this community.
    We have to help one another to preserve what has been built, perhaps set standards (I remember when this was a family friendly site, but often, I would not permit my daughter to peruse here), and, last, apologize when we get it wrong.
    Your blog, Ray, was instrumental to me on gathering, documenting, and storing vital information on Erie’s Troll. I am grateful.
