Erie PA News and Events for Saturday August 20, 2005
The Brian Wells Pizza Bomber case will be featured on the Fox News Channel today. Geraldo Rivera has been in Erie a couple of times in the past month taping segments for the story.
Brian Wells died two years when a pipe bomb attached to a collar around his neck exploded after he had robbed a bank.
Pennsylvania State Police apprehended Wells on August 28, 2003 just after he had robbed a PNC Bank branch in Summit Towne Centre, just south of the City of Erie. He was stopped in a parking lot, trying to follow instructions in a 9 page note investigators recovered along with a cane gun from his car. The bomb exploded as pizza deliveryman Wells sat handcuffed in front of his Geo Metro while police waited (and waited) for the Erie bomb squad.
The FBI has not made an arrest in the case.
