UPMC Health Plan announced that its UPMC for Life Medicare Advantage products will now be available in Erie, Jefferson and Venango counties.
‘Unearth’ will be embarking on a headlining club tour beginning September 16 in Erie, PA at Forward Hall.
HealthAmerica, one of the state’s largest health insurers, announced that its affiliate, HealthAssurance, has renewed its contract to administer health insurance benefits for The Plastek Group’s 1,000 employees and their dependents. The Plastek Group, based in Erie PA, is a manufacturer of proprietary plastics and related products.
The state announced grants to transportation authorities and agencies for bus service including $86,717 to the Crawford Area Transportation Authority and $60,356 to the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority.
The Erie Chamber Orchestra in residence at Gannon University with Director Bruce Morton Wright presents its 22nd Annual “Music in the Air Concerts” Classical Music Night tonight, Friday, August 12, 2005 at 8:00 pm. The soloist will be Howard Lyon, Violinist. The free concert will be presented on the patio of Villa Maria Academy, 2403 West 8th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania. In case of rain, the performances will be held in the auditorium of Villa Maria Academy.

The Buggin’ State Classic Car cruise-in will be held on Friday August 12 in downtown Erie from 4th to 12th on State street. The Original Black Diamond will be the band performing.
The Land, Lake and Leisure Festival will be held August 13 at the Liberty Park Pepsi Amphitheater. Bands including Wayne Warner, The Fabulous Gunslingers, Next of Kin, House of Cards and a couple more will perform.
The Thermal-G Eagles Radio Control Club will hold its annual airshow on Saturday August 13 from 10 am-4 pm at the Erie County Technical School, 8500 Oliver Road in Summit Township.
‘The Wizard of Oz’ is being performed by Stage Right Productions Fridays and Saturdays August 12 through August 20. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for seniors and students.
Lake Erie Speedway NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series begins at 7:30 pm. All six racing divisions will be in action. Next Friday is their Race of Champions featuring NEXTEL Cup Drivers Bobby Labonte, Casey Mears, Sterling Marlin and Greg Biffle.
Simon Pond capped a four-run eighth inning with a three-run homer as the Baysox rallied for a 5-4 victory over the SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park. The Baysox and SeaWolves will play the second game of the series Friday at 7:05 pm. LHP Kurt Birkins (6-9, 4.81) gets the ball for Bowie, while LHP Corey Hamman (3-2, 5.37) gets the spot start for Erie.
Sports Illustrated has Edinboro University ranked 6th in their pre-season poll. SI might to want to starts reading the news. They mentioned that Andre Burke was a standout on the team. Burke was arrested on drug charges in May and is no longer a member of the squad.
