Everything Erie Wiki
This is it folks, the last piece of the new ErieBlogs.com that we’ve been working on behind the scenes for the last few weeks. It’s the Everything Erie wiki.
There are a few sites out there that try to catalog information about Erie, such as where to go, where to eat, things to do, etc. but they don’t stay updated and it’s a closed system, meaning we the people get no say or access to those directories. That ends now.
Everything Erie is a collection of information and resources for the Erie area. The cool thing is that we’re asking everyone out there to contribute to it and add your knowledge and expertise. Because it’s built using Wiki software, anyone can go to a page and add, edit and change information.
What’s a wiki you say? Well, a wiki is a type of web site that allows anyone to contribute information to a website in real time. A great example of this is the Wikipedia, a site that relies on users for it’s information. It’s an amazing resource if you’ve never used it, and I’d love to see something with our Everything Erie wiki.
We’ve entered some initial categories of information and some listings for local places to eat so far. If you see a category you think should be there - add it. Want to add your impressions of a local restaurant? Do it. Did someone get the address of a local business wrong? Fix it. Want to build a local business directory and add your company? Great. Do it.
Take a look around and edit a page, you’ll see how easy it is. I’m really excited about this and hope everyone will contribute. The blogging community we’ve built in Erie has so many diverse interests and talents, I think we’ll be able to craft a great resource about our town.
Here’s the link again. Let’s get wiki’ing! (Is that a verb?)

Whoops, I've never seen that site. But they have forums, which require registration and another user name and passwords. A wiki's nice because you don't need that. You just edit away. Plus, we have some content already. I didn't notice very much in the way of content on that site (5 total forum posts), so I can safely say this site has the most Erie information on it.
Plus, we have Dennis. We win.

Cool!!! Now if people in erie can handle the concept of a wiki this could be really great :-D
The other site is pretty lame, just using Community Server (www.communityserver.org), not very impressive.

I'm also collecting info for a small guide to Erie craft supply locations (craft stores, yarn stores, scrapbooking places, etc.) so a wikipedia like this is exactly what we need. BTW: if anyone has crafty links, please e-mail me :)

I have a question about the wiki topics. I had a couple of ideas for topics I'd like to see but I have no info to provide under them. The question is, since I've zero wiki experience) would I add topics myself and hope someone comes along to contribute or would I get in touch with the moderators of the wiki (I didn't see any contact info there) and they would do it?
