What a great story on lst Lt. Kenneth Robinson. I grew up in Girard in the 50's and can relate to him but never heard this tale. As kids at Battles school during WWII the teachers would march us to a memorial board at Wells Park in the center of town. The board was enclosed in glass and listed the local servicemen in white with the deceased in gold letttering. Then the teacher would tell us about those that died. There were maybe 7 of them and a new memorial is now on view at the American Legion Post 494. Many families were heartbroken the rest of their lives. The Mission Pond was popular with the Girard kids and was a very cold place to swim. My ancestors, the Ephriam Martin family who co-founded present day Lake City, lived in the 1800's across from the pond. The Denman Theatre had increased to 14 cents by my boyhood and Hull's Cigar Store was the stopping point after the show. I knew Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sutch and this story is a fine tribute to Harold's friend. Bob Martin

It is just great to see how the story of Lt. Kenneth R. Robinson relates to the memories of others. Sixty years have passed since Kenneth Robinson died far frome his homeland, but it is good to know that his story is still "alive".
