Erie PA News and Events for Sunday October 2, 2005
Mercyhurst College announced three finalist candidates for college president. The finalists are Thomas G Fox, PhD, the senior vice president for advancement at Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla; Thomas J Gamble, PhD, vice president of academic affairs at Mercyhurst; and Colleen Hester, PhD, vice president of strategic planning, institutional research and evaluation at the University of St Thomas, Houston, Texas. Gamble spent 1988-97 with the disaster that is the Erie County Office of Children and Youth.
The search began following the retirement of Dr William (Bill) Garvey, the college’s ninth president, on February 23, amid allegations from nearly a dozen men of sexual abuse while they children. The school is trying to wipe out any reminder of Garvey. Portraits of him have been moved or removed. The Faculty Senate wants Garvey Park renamed. During the last Faculty Senate meeting, the group tabled a motion on a symbolic no confidence vote concerning Board of Trustees Chairwoman Marlene Mosco and the entire 11 member executive committee. Mosco and the executive committee halted an investigation into the exploits of Garvey the minute he decided to resign.
Ron Richardson was checking out the new Google Video and on the main page is a random video list. Up pops a few bootleg minutes of the July Hilary Duff concert in Erie.
I would have never found the site for Peccadillos if it wasn’t for the Google ad on this Erie PA blog. WARNING: turn down the volume on your speakers if you click on the link. I have yet to hear one person say they like going to the place. People only go there because people go there.
