If you live in a fraternity house, get a post office box. The US Postal Service normally offers the forwarding service for as long as 12 months after his address changes but the USPS classifies fraternities as businesses. Postal rules prohibit the forwarding of mail from a business to individuals. Phil English, are you listening?
The Fourth Annual Walk to Make a Great Park Better will be held Sunday October 9, 2005 at Presque Isle State Park at 1 pm. In addition to benefiting Presque Isle State Park, money raised by the walk will fund three memorial scholarships named in honor of David Hanlon, Frank Pettinato Sr and Fran Kloecker Jr. To be eligible for the scholarships, the high school student must complete the scholarship application the day of the walk, participate in the walk and generate a minimum of $25 in pledges. Harbor Creek’s Steven Blose set a single-game Pennsylvania high school rushing record with 490 yards in a 56-22 victory over Fort LeBeouf. Blose scored on runs of 1, 46, 46, 63, 77, and 89 yards.
All four area college football teams lost:
Northwood (6-1) defeated Gannon (2-5) 24-7.
Saginaw Valley St (6-0) beat Mercyhurst (0-6) 44-14.
Ohio Wesleyan (3-2) Edged Allegheny (0-5) 13-8.
California (Pa) beat Edinboro (4-2) 36-26.
Josh Lustig (Erie Cathedral Prep) finished with a season-high five catches for 68 yards and a TD as 17th-ranked William and Mary crushed Division I-AA Number 1 New Hampshire 42-10.
Ste Maire Greyhounds came to town and beat the Erie Otters 5-2. Sean O’Connor and Vince Scott scored for the Otters, who lost their second straight and are now 3-3. Erie out shot the Greyhounds 36-25 in the game as Jhase Sniderman took the loss. The Otters return to action Friday night when they host the Brampton Battalion at the Tullio Arena. Saturday it’s the Otters and the Kingston Frontenacs at the Tullio Arena.
Erie native Ed Hinkel broke his arm in the first half of the Iowa win over Purdue and could be lost for the season. Hinkel has leading the team in receptions and was closing in on the Iowa career record for receptions. Also in the game, CB Jovon Johnson of Erie had a career-high nine tackles.
