Erie PA News and Events for Monday October 17, 2005
David A Santia was arrested for attempting to steal a car at the Millcreek Mall. The near carjacking occurred when he grabbed the keys out of the hand of a 84 year old woman and pushed her out of the way. Here’s hoping for a little jailhouse justice.
You know you no longer have a career when more people pay a $5 cover charge to make fun of you than actually want to hear your one hit from 15 years ago. Washed-up Vanilla Ice ‘performed’ at the Cellblock Saturday night. He pissed off the few people that were there by throwing beer at them. Quick way to clear out the place. Even an employee or two left. Good times.
It’s great that people find this blog through search engines. It’s embarrassing when people fid it through a misspelled word. Erie PA Blogs must have a high page rank for Penn State Berhend. Guess it’s a bit lower for the correct Penn State Behrend. Before you laugh at me for getting it wrong, I found it spelled wrong twice on Behrend site: Off-campus students are an integral part of the Penn State Berhend community… and …leads a young Berhend squad that should be competitive in the AMCC this season.

The Erie Thunderbirds and Jazz Erie present trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson and His Big Bop Nouveau Band in concert with special guests Valerie Gillespie and Cats A Bear on Friday October 21 at the Shrine Club. Tickets for dinner and the show are $40, show only run $25. Call 814-836-8500 for ticket information because the Erie Thunderbirds web site sucks, it can only be viewed with IE. DO NOT attempt to view it with Firefox or Netscape as it will freeze up.

The Achievement Center and Sarah Reed Children’s Center are scaring up a good time at the Ninth Annual ‘Trail of Treats.’ This years event will be held two nights, October 26th and 27th, from 5 pm to 8:30 pm in the dungeons, err, concourses of the Millcreek Mall. Children attending will show off their costumes and receive treats from between 35-50 ‘treat stations’ or table sponsors throughout the Mall. This event enables children to celebrate Halloween in a safe, fun and climate-controlled environment. Proceeds from the event will benefit children with physical disabilities at the Achievement Center, and children with mental health issues served by Sarah Reed’s Children Center. Cost is only $2 per child in advance, and $3 at the door.
Ryan Callahan scored two of his three goals in a five-goal third period explosion to help power the Guelph Storm to a 6-4 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played Sunday afternoon at the Guelph Sports and Entertainment Centre. Andrew Hotham, Ryan O’Marra, Mike Blunden and Christian Olsen scored for the Otters. Sean O’Connor collected an assist to extend his point-scoring streak to a career-high seven games (4-6-10). The Otters return to action Friday night when the Windsor Spitfires pay a visit to the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 pm start.
