Millcreek Township police are investigating vandalism at Calvary Cemetery. Gravestones were tipped over and some were spray painted.

The Erie, Pa hospital market prices ranked 201st out of 259, with prices at 80 percent of the national average. The Buffalo-Niagara Falls region ranked 7th, 45 percent higher than the national average. No wonder so many doctors send their patients to Hamot and St V’s.
In October 2004, the US Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, which covers the Pittsburgh, Johnstown and Erie metropolitan areas processed 1,430 filings. From Oct 1-16, 2005, The Court processed 9,494 filings. The new bankruptcy law went into effect on Oct 17.
Berwyn Moore, associate professor of English at Gannon University, will host a reading for her new book of poetry, Dissolution of Ghosts. The reading is scheduled for 7:30 pm Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the Boardroom of Old Main, Peach Street and South Park Row. The event is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served. Copies of Dissolution of Ghosts will be available for purchase and Moore also will sign copies of the book.

Nearly 120 recruiters will be at Mercyhurst College Thursday, November 3, for a job fair open to students from Erie area colleges. It will run from 1 to 4 pm at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Admission is free.
The Allegheny College Playshop Theatre continues its 2005–2006 season with Tina Howe’s moving comedy “Approaching Zanzibar,” under the direction of Dan Crozier. An out-of-kilter comedy that centers on life, death, love and family, “Approaching Zanzibar” will be performed at 8 pm on Thursday through Saturday, Nov 3–5, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 6, in Allegheny’s Playshop Theatre, located in Arter Hall.
Ryan O’Marra scored his second career hat trick and added an assist to lead the Erie Otters to a 6-5 win over the Owen Sound Attack in an Ontario Hockey League game played Sunday at the JD McArthur Arena. Mike Blunden added a goal and two assists for the winners while singles went to Brett MacLean and Nick Palmieri. Chad Loikets collected three assists in the game and Sean O’Connor set up pair. The Otters won for the fourth straight time to improve to 9-6 on the season. The next Otters home game takes place Saturday (November 5th) when the Kitchener Rangers make their first visit of the season for a 7:30 pm start.
A fast start by the visiting St Lawrence Saints proved to be too much for the Lakers of Mercyhurst to rebound back from in Sunday’s 4-1 loss. Four goals in the first 24 minutes of play combined with strong goalkeeping from sophomore Meaghan Guckian was enough for Number 1 St Lawrence to complete the weekend sweep of the Number 8 Lakers.
Gannon scored twice in each quarter to edge Mercyhurst 8-7 in the seventh place game at the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s (CWPA) Southern Division Championships.
