The main FBI witness against Mayor Rick Filippi in an insider land deal is Greg Rubino. The article in yesterdays Erie newspaper was Rubino named in 6 FBI probes. Nice witness guys. You got to wonder if Rubino will say anything just to keep himself out of jail. And MTR Gaming has picked a real winner to help develop a casino because one of the probes involved organized crime and/or drugs.

Mindy Williams, aka Mindy Acosta, aka Mindy Lynn Todd, was found murdered of strangulation and suffication at McCarty Park, 2nd and Pennsylvania Ave. Police weren’t saying much other than to call them if anyone knows anything.

Time Warner Cable will inherit Erie County once the acquisition of Adelphia is complete. Time Warner likely will merge that system with one it owns in the city of Erie. The date for the switch hasn’t been set. Roughly 10 percent of the City of Erie uses satellite.
If you haven’t been to Asbury Woods lately, try and stop by today. The Asbury Woods Nature Center will hold a dedication and ribbon cutting on today at 11 am. The center will host an Open House all day Saturday and Sunday with live music, tours, hikes, crafts and more.
The Fantastics premieres this weekend at the Erie Playhouse. The musical will be performed November 4-5, 10-13 and 16-20. For tickets, call the box office at 814-454-2852.

Mike Duco scored 1:45 into overtime to give the Kitchener Rangers a 4-3 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played at The Aud in Kitchener. Mike Blunden paced the Otters with two. Sean O’Connor had the other. The two teams get right back at it again tonight when they wrap up their home-and-home series at the Tullio Arena at 7:30 pm.
Justin Mercier of Erie, who was playing in his first game as a RedHawk after missing Miami’s first four games due to illness, had an assist as the 14th ranked Miami University ice hockey team downed 13th ranked Ohio State 3-1. Justin played last year for the United States National Team Development Program Under-18 Team. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
