Agritourism - agricultural tourism. Agriculture is the state’s Number 1 industry, and tourism is the second biggest source of jobs and sales revenues. Now the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry in Pennsylvania is visiting farms. The Lake Erie wineries have long been a stop for tourists but others have realized the potential of tourism. The Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm had been a struggling dairy farm before they switched from cows to buffalo. Halloween has become a major holiday for some farms with hay rides and corn mazes. Pick-your-own is more popular than ever before. Dozens of farms have opened Bed and breakfasts. Some working farms offer tours or weekend stays where you get to milk the cows, gather eggs and fed the animals.
Lakefront property is valuable but this one made my jaw drop. A 1.59 acre property just West of the PA/NY state line in Nort East recently sold for $160,000. There is no house, that’s just the price for a building lot.
If you haven’t been to Asbury Woods lately, try and stop by. The center will host an Open House all day Sunday with live music, tours, hikes, crafts and more.
Gannon University will host its annual Open House today.
First period power-play goals by Craig Voakes and Jakub Kindl were enough to lift the Kitchener Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played Saturday night in front of 4,724 at the Tullio Arena. Mike Blunden scored the lone Otters goal.
Saturday high school football scores:

Edinboro beat Lock Haven 41-3 and won their third straight PSAC West title. They should make the D-II playoffs when the teams are announced today.
Tiffin edged Gannon 30-23.
Allegheny finally got a win crushing Earlham 41-0.
Road trip. The Gannon University men’s basketball team will travel to the University of Buffalo on Friday, November 11 for an exhibition game against the Division I Bulls. Admission to Buffalo’s Alumni Arena is free of charge. Game time is 8 pm. Gannon returns four letterwinners and three starters from last year’s 18-11 squad. Last year, the Golden Knights advanced to the GLIAC Tournament for the ninth consecutive season and the NCAA Division II Tournament for the sixth straight campaign. The University of Buffalo finished the 2004-05 season with a 23-10 mark and gained a berth in the NIT.
The Rockford Lightning of the CBA open camp this morning. Geoff Husted, a 6-foot-11 rookie from Division II Gannon University, is competing for playing time at the power forward and center positions.
Former Erie SeaWolves broadcaster Mike Antonellis has been hired by ESPN Radio (890 AM) in Boston. He provides sports updates from 6 to 10 am weekdays and hosts a fantasy football show Wednesdays.
The Northwestern Pennsylvania Pheasants Forever Chapter has just been established. For info call Keith Preston at 814-825-1415.
