Gregory (Greg) P Zuba of Erie PA was killed in a hit and run near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Zuba pulled over to a truck stop to talk to a mechanic to help him repair his semi when he was struck by another semi.

A one year old Amish boy was killed when a horse became spooked and he was thrown from the buggy he was riding with his family. The tragic accident happened in Conneaut Township.

Play golf for free. Erie City Council didn’t tranfer funds to pay the workers at the city owned Downing Golf Course so six workers were layed-off. The clubhouse is closed but the course is still open. Since thee is nobody to take your money you get to play for nothing.

Mercyhurst Preparatory School, 538 East Grandview Blvd, presents the musical comedy “Little Mary Sunshine.” Performances at 7 pm tonight through Saturday, and again Nov 17-19. Performances at 3 pm Nov 13, 19, 20. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students $4. For more information, call 814-824-2063.

Henry Segall’s play, Heaven Can Wait, opens tonight at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. The production will be held in Penn State Behrend’s Studio Theatre and will be performed on November 11-12 and November 16-20 at 8:00 pm and Sundays, November 13 and 20, at 2:00 pm. General admission is $5.

Mercyhurst College will play host to the world premiere of “License to Marry,” an opera composed by Seymour Barab, tonight, Friday, Nov 11, and Sunday, Nov 13, at the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. This production of the D’Angelo Department of Music is under the direction of Dorothy Danner. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 pm Friday and 2 pm Sunday. The Erie Philharmonic will perform a concert Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 8pm; Brahms Violin Concerto with special guest Soovin Kim, violin; Brahms Symphony Number 4. Soovin Kim plays on a 1709 Antonio Stradivarius violin, the “ex-Kempner.”

The Gannon University men’s basketball team will travel to the University of Buffalo tonight for an exhibition game against the Division I Bulls. Admission to Buffalo’s Alumni Arena is free of charge. Game time is 8 pm. Gannon returns four letterwinners and three starters from last year’s 18-11 squad. Last year, the Golden Knights advanced to the GLIAC Tournament for the ninth consecutive season and the NCAA Division II Tournament for the sixth straight campaign. The University of Buffalo finished the 2004-05 season with a 23-10 mark and gained a berth in the NIT.

The Edinboro men’s basketball team travels to State College to take on Penn State in an exhibition game tonight at 7 pm.

Mike Machuga of Erie is in 14th place after the second round at the PBA Tour Greater Omaha Classic.

Erie native Becky Berzonski is in 28th place after the 3rd round at the 2006 FUTURES Tour Qualifying Tournament being held in Lakeland, FL.

The Erie Otters complete a stretch in which they will have played seven of their last 10 games on the road this weekend when they travel to London on Friday and return home to face the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday.

Iowa faces 19th ranked Wisconsin Saturday afternnon. Jovon Johnson is a starting cornerback for Iowa while his cousin Levonne Rowan is a starting cornerback for Wisconsin. Rowan and Johnson played high school football together at Erie Mercyhurst Prep. Rowan will be covering the other Iowa player from Erie, Ed Hinkel (Erie Cathedral Prep). Hinkel returns after missing three games with a broken arm.

The Elmira Jackals of the UHL announced the signing of forward David Herring. Herring was picked up by the Jackals after being released from the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL. Herring played four seasons for the Erie Otters. I’d like to hear what happened in Greenville becasue he wasn’t released because of his play on the ice.

The field for the 2006 McDonald’s Classic Basketball Tournament was announced. Rufus King(Milwaukee, Wis) faces Mount Vernon(Mount Vernon, NY) while host Erie Cathedral Prep takes on Chester (Chester, PA) on the opening night. The tourney takes place January 13-14, 2006 at the Gannon University Hammermill Center.
