Erie PA News and Events for Tuesday November 15, 2005
The official count for last Tuesdays election took place yesterday. The focus of the county was the race for Erie County Executive because there was only a six vote difference between the two candidates. Democrat Mark DiVecchio now leads Republican Dale McBrier by 117 votes, a 123 vote swing. All machine votes are now official. The absentee ballots and the provisional votes will be checked today.
Erie Traffic Court employee Deborah Steff was arraigned on felony theft charges yesterday. She admitted to stealing over $100,000 in traffic court fines over the past 4 plus years. Steff said she spent the money on vacations, shopping sprees and eating. How the heck does someone get away with stealing money for 5 years? Are there no controls at city hall? Is there EVER an audit?

Apparently there are two Deborah Steffs that work for the City.

And I have verification that Harborcreek is inhabited by the Steff that isn't being charged.
"Investigative Reporting by Jenson"
hahaha.

I edited the part of the entry wondering if it was the same person that lived in Harborcreek.
Good job Jenson!

Check out the stupid comments in the Times article by Ron Sertz of the Erie Otters about this woman.
Maybe if Ron feels a need to praise this scummy person so much, he'll offer her a full-time job with the Otters instead of her just being President of the Otters Fan Club?

This woman is also 48 years old, and has worked at City Hall for 30 years? Imagine having that kind of nice cushy job security, and STILL feeling the need to take all that money.
What a horrible person. Of course, it's not surprising that David Ridge is defending her. You could fill a book with all the scumbags David Ridge has defended in the Erie area over the years.

The Erie Police Chief, Charles Bowers, even praised her for being a good employee! What the F##K! Are you kidding me??? She took over $100,000 from the City and everyone is saying what a wonderful person she is!? I hope the state takes over the city...I REALLY DO! What a bunch of bozos! I want to know why no one has said anything about all the money the city has taken from the water reserve fund to pay last years bills? Isn't the city LEGALLY obligated to pay the money back? Bunch of no good crooks...ALL OF THEM!

Maybe someone should have asked Charles Bowers how this woman was able to steal from the city for SO long, and from a position right DOWN THE HALL from the police!! Do people in Erie realize how close her office was to the Cops?
As for Charles Bowers, maybe he's too busy promoting his brother to high positions to be paying close enough attention.
