Erie County detectives working undercover in a chat room found David Sean Lukes, a Baltimore County Public School employee from Stewartstown PA, trying to solicit sex from a child. The incident happened in October. Lukes is/was the supervisor of magnet programs for the Baltimore County Public Schools. Lukes was charged by York County detectives with criminal solicitation to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal solicitation to commit statutory sexual assault and four other offenses relating to asking an underage girl for sex.
The Villa Maria Academy in Buffalo will close in June. This school was often confused with the Villa Maria Academy in Erie.

Experience Erie’s premier holiday tradition with the Erie Philharmonic and everyone’s favorite newsworthy entertainer, Amanda Post. “Home for the Holidays with Amanda Post” will be performed Sunday, December 11 at 2 PM at the Warner Theatre.
The Westminster Figure Skating Club of Erie would like to invite you to spend an afternoon with their skaters as they celebrate the Holiday season Sunday, December 11th from 4-6 PM at the Mercyhurst College Ice Center. Sit back and enjoy performances by their skating teams, the Elite Edges, Westminsterettes, and Ice Crystals, and solo performances by our Senior through Pre-Preliminary Freestyle skaters. Refreshments and fresh bake goods will be available. All skaters are welcome to skate with Santa after the show. Please bring your own skates. No rentals will be available. Proceeds from the show benefit the Erie City Mission. A free will donation will be accepted at the door.

Recycled Percussion is returning to the Allegheny College campus on December 13 at 7:30 pm to premier their brand-new show and film their international music video and DVD titled “Recycled Percussion: Live at Allegheny.”
Ed Hinkel was named one of the co-winners of the Most Valuable Player Award for Iowa’s football team. Ed Hinkel, an Erie, PA, native, broke an arm in the Purdue game and returned to action for Iowa’s final two games. He was named honorable mention all-Big Ten and was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his four touchdown catches vs Minnesota. The four TD receptions set a Kinnick Stadium record. He has 126 career receptions for 1,501 yards and 13 touchdowns. Hinkel is projected as a 6th or 7th round draft pick.
Chris Greene scored two goals and an assist and Mike Blunden registered a hat trick as the Erie Otters topped the Oshawa Generals 7-3 in an Ontario Hockey League game played Saturday in front of 3,958 at the Tullio Arena. Derrick Bagshaw and Nick Palmieri netted the other Otters goals while Sean O’Connor collected three assists. Bret Nasby and Andrew Hotham registered two assists each as the Otters won for the third straight time to improve to 13-13-3-1. The next Otters home games takes place Friday (December 16th) when the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors visit for a 7:30 pm start. Saturday (December 17th) it’s the Otters and the Windsor Spitfires at 7:30 pm at the Tullio Arena.
