Yesterday, Eden brought up the great idea of an Erie Blogger Get Together. She had a later update here. And Michael Mahler continued the discussion. Eden set up an Erie Bloggers Group on Yahoo. Barnes & Noble, Panera’s and the Cornerstone Bar and Grill have been brought up at possible meeting places. If you’re an Erie area Blogger or avid reader of the Erie blogs, please toss in your 2 cents and join in the discussion. note: Erie has the most bars per capita in Pennsylvania for a good reason.

Paige
Congrats to Paige on her promotion. Not wanting to let her head get big and because I’m a smart a$$, I must reference the Peter Principle: People get promoted until they reach their level of incompetence.

Julie M Vavreck of Erie took third place in the senior division of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s 2005 Youth Hunter Education Challenge Essay Contest. The theme for the contest was: “How I support wildlife conservation.”

The Erie Zoo is recruiting summer volunteers ages 14 to 18. See your school guidance counselors for info.

Four of the Penn State Behrend student music ensembles will perform together in the appropriately named Collage Concert on Thursday, March 2. The performance will begin at 8 pm in the Reed Student Union Building’s McGarvey Commons. It is free and open to the public. The Behrend college choir, the Studio Singers, the jazz ensemble and the Behrend concert band will perform.

The theater group All An Act Productions is performing the comedy “The Middle Ages” by AR Gurney. The show will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3 pm through March 5th at East High School, located at 1001 Atkins Street, Erie, Pa 16503. General Admission is $5.

Looks like the Tigers will assign 3B Kody Kirkland to the Double-A Erie SeaWolves. Last year, he hit 266 at Single A Lakeland with 16 HR. Detroit likes him and placed him on their 40-man roster.

The Gannon softball team knocked off the fifth-ranked team in the country for the second consecutive day and remained undefeated Monday afternoon during its spring trip in Fort Myers, Fla. The Lady Knights defeated Concordia (Minn) 6-4 in eight innings and Wheeling Jesuit 10-1 in five innings.
