Yesterday, Eden brought up the great idea of an Erie Blogger Get Together. She had a later update here. And Michael Mahler continued the discussion. Eden set up an Erie Bloggers Group on Yahoo. Barnes & Noble, Panera’s and the Cornerstone Bar and Grill have been brought up at possible meeting places. If you’re an Erie area Blogger or avid reader of the Erie blogs, please toss in your 2 cents and join in the discussion. note: Erie has the most bars per capita in Pennsylvania for a good reason.

Julie M Vavreck of Erie took third place in the senior division of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s 2005 Youth Hunter Education Challenge Essay Contest. The theme for the contest was: “How I support wildlife conservation.”
The Erie Zoo is recruiting summer volunteers ages 14 to 18. See your school guidance counselors for info.
The St Petersburg String Quartet will perform today at noon in the Reed Student Union Building McGarvey Commons at Penn State Behrend. It is free and open to the public.
Four of the Penn State Behrend student music ensembles will perform together in the appropriately named Collage Concert on Thursday, March 2. The performance will begin at 8 pm in the Reed Student Union Building’s McGarvey Commons. It is free and open to the public. The Behrend college choir, the Studio Singers, the jazz ensemble and the Behrend concert band will perform.
The theater group All An Act Productions is performing the comedy “The Middle Ages” by AR Gurney. The show will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3 pm through March 5th at East High School, located at 1001 Atkins Street, Erie, Pa 16503. General Admission is $5.
The 24th annual Erie Outdoor Sport and Travel Expo will be held March 3 through March 5 at the Family First Sports Park, 8155 Oliver Road in Erie (I-90 at Peach Street, Exit 24).
The Woman’s Club of Erie presents the 4th annual Erie’s Famous Food Event to be held at Porters Restaurant and Tap Room on Sunday, March 5. Dozens of Erie’s best restaurants have been invited to participate and display their best dishes. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, children under 10 are free. Call 838-9036 or 864-8306, or visit Porters for tickets. All proceeds benefit Erie County CASA, SafeNet, and Mission Activities of the Women’s Club.
The Pearl Jam tribute band ‘Ten’ will be playing Sherlocks in Erie on March 10 and recording a promo DVD that night.
The 2006 National Christian Invitational basketball tournament will be held at Family First Sports Park.
Freshman Erin Kerner (Erie Mercyhurst Prep) led the Bobcats with 15 points on 6-10 shooting as the Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team (20-7) defeated Robert Morris 53-46. This is the first 20 win season for Quinnipiac.
Looks like the Tigers will assign 3B Kody Kirkland to the Double-A Erie SeaWolves. Last year, he hit 266 at Single A Lakeland with 16 HR. Detroit likes him and placed him on their 40-man roster.
The Gannon softball team knocked off the fifth-ranked team in the country for the second consecutive day and remained undefeated Monday afternoon during its spring trip in Fort Myers, Fla. The Lady Knights defeated Concordia (Minn) 6-4 in eight innings and Wheeling Jesuit 10-1 in five innings.
